Episode 8 – combat encounters
We start this show by discussing various character- and player-related problems that can occur during a roleplaying game. Topics include Adam’s difficulty naming his characters, deciding between 1st and 3rd person RP, ridiculous inventories, and dealing with “setting lawyers”. The last half of the show is spent discussing the design and exceution of combat encounters, as well as handling the positive and negative consequences that follow.
* FYI, the “two sets of keys” comment was just a figure of speech. None of the hosts actually does anything like that.

Speaking about the names,
Now i feel kind of lucky, when i chose names for my characters i find it easy to name them,
but naiming the evil villan that is a problem
I remember a very close call I had in which sea-based pirates attacked an airship the players were on… via a want that teleported the raiding party the hundreds of feet from the boat to the airship’s cargo hold. To my relief, when they found the wand of Long Teleport Group, they thought it was controlling a trap that was inhibiting their progress, so the troll swordsmaster grabbed it and broke it over his knee. I did tell them afterwards what they had broken, because I am cruel and wanted to hear their reaction to their own hastiness, but I am very glad I didn’t have to deal with the consequences of my loot oversight.
