A general news and info thread seems like a good idea. Figure we all can put shameless plugs and other people's projects and efforts here as well.

If NaNoWriMo stress you out or is not your cup of tea, what about game design?

A November game jam that is based on random prompts from Zero Dice. :-)

The FB page for NaGaDeMon, which is also in November.

Good idea!

There are a couple of somewhat timely things I think are worth checking out:

August 2019: Game Maker's Toolkit https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqJ-Xo29CKyLTjn6z2XwYAw, a tremendous YouTube series by Mark Brown, recently put on a game jam. Mark streamed several long sessions where he looked at random entries, but if you don't have time for that, check out the video he put out that covers the games voted highest by the GMTK community: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-WrQ77zUvA

September 2019: Ryan Clark of BraceYourself Games ("Curse of the Necrodancer", "Cadence of Hyrule") puts on a recurring Twitch stream where he covers Indie game industry news and analysis https://www.twitch.tv/braceyourselfgames. I think anyone serious about making a go of developing video games as an Indie should at least give it a look. The next Clark Tank is Sept. 6th at 1pm Pacfic, and you can catch previous episodes on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/BraceYourselfGames
01/06/14: A dwarven dragon-scale shield that was secreted away by a strange messenger long ago. It is the only thing feared by the Fell Dragon of Bloody Death.

I can't remember if I posted this else where, a nice article on being a game designer in the industry.

Welp, that's a mighty fine time sink that I need to check out. Thanks! :-)

This looks like a great series that I definitely need to start watching soon.

An out of context influence map from a Go playing AI I made a while ago that was as complex as it was bad at Go  Image

Wow, Go is a challenge. I don't think we have an AI that can beat a master yet.

This did actually happen recently! But yeah this was more about exploring general concepts of AI than a serious attempt to make a competent Go Bot  :geek:
