Hi!

Postby Jen Tangent » Fri Apr 22, 2022 1:51 am

Im Jen, 30, transwoman, and asecond generation D&D gamer.

I started playing in the 90s with my Dad's group a handful of times so I fell in love with tabletop from a young age. I also am a huge scifi fan, larper, and outdoorsy type. Also a big pc gamer, so hit my steam up!https://s.team/p/dvt-pcnk/JVQVCWQG

A lot of it has apparently moved over to Discord, leaving just a few of us behind. Personally, I dislike the format of Discord; it seems to be very much modelled on the endless stream of chat one sees in other social media things. I prefer the more organised layout of the traditional forum, where you at least have some idea of the subject matter likely to be found in any given thread. On Discord it all seems to be in one big pile of random.

Sadly, we are now an ever-decreasing minority.

The most activity is on the Facebook group and the Discord these days. The forums do still have a few active posters. Welcome and feel free to join us elsewhere as well.

I am not a big fan of Discord overall because not being on all the time I feel like the conversation leaves me behind. I have learned to really love it for small groups though such as coordinating and communicating with gaming groups both online and in person.

I agree with the traditional forum format being better organized for this. Typical social media like the Facebook format is not designed for organized information. It is designed for collecting user data. That is why it constantly pushes distracting information. Discord is apparently designed for live computer game chats. I am not sure if the also collect funds through data harvesting.

Fear the Boot, Palladium Books, and Pinnacle Entertainment are some of the few RPG forums with Fear the Boot maybe the only general game forum now that Happy Jacks shut their forum and moved to...Discord.
