Name: Phillip Carstairs
Age:
Family:
- Sister- Jen. Phillip has her on a pedestal. She can do no wrong. In reality she is a bit of a wild child who longs for freedom and to get out of Herman for somewhere better. Growing up he taught her to read and her favorite book was Island of the Blue Dolphin. She carves wooden statues as a hobby and made him a dolphin to keep with him while he travels the river.
- Father- Jeremiah. Runs the large Family co-op farm. Provides the majority of the food for the town that is not imported. Many brothers and sisters. He loves farming and it is where his passion lays. He is disappointed that his son did not want to work the farm. Shares Phillips views on Jen.
- Mother- Beverly (originally intended name to be Peggy but went with the mix-up). A skilled seamstress. A strong independent woman who feels the need to take care of not just her actual family but her extended family in the form of Miss Lilly's Vine's crew.
Personality:
Phillip is about as well educated as you can get in a small town on the outskirts of St. Louis's control. He is very intelligent and has a real passion for trading. He has a knack for business concepts and an overwhelming desire to learn and understand everything. He is always taking notes and documents everywhere he goes. He believes that everything has a market and if you can just figure out who needs what you can make a fortune. He dreams of one day having a fleet of traders both caravans and boats that he has trained himself to go out and handle the trading.
He carries a reed flute that used to belong to Miss Lilly and likes to play it at night when in safe harbor or while out on the river.
He has no mechanical aptitude what so ever and is particularly bad with guns. He just doesn't have the manual dexterity for it.
