More English language idiocy:

A person (or almost anything) can be active or not active.
If it is not active, we refer to that is "inactive".
To change something from being active to inactive, we "deactivate" it.
We don't refer to something as "deactive" and we don't "inactivate" it.

And in typing this, I have to laugh, because it shows "deactive" as a spelling error (which I would expect) but not "inactivate".

Does anyone actually say "inactivate" ?

This is where it gets fun.
One is transitive, the other intransitive; The verb "being inactive" is intransitive and applies to a subject but doesn't need an object. The verb "deactivate" is transitive and is applied to a subject (the person who does it) and followed by an object (who gets deactivated).
I love how we use and abuse transitive andvinactive verbs.

It's 9:40 at night.
I'm siting at a fold up table in my back yard.
The neighbors dog stopped barking not long after the stat flight helicopter flew over.
For a brief moment, everything was perfectly quiet.
Then the crickets started up far off in the distance, a very soft soothing sound, with a wandering pitch.
An owl came out, hooted a dozen times or so but stopped.
There is something small skittering about on the pool deck to my left. I can hear it knocking dried leaves and twigs about, but whenever I point my flashlight in that direction, there is nothing there.
Off to my right, over the fence and in the woods, I can hear something clomping around. I assume it is a deer.
While I type this, I hear something climb over the fence and onto the deck. It is surely a raccoon or possum. I grilled tonight and the smell of the grease attracts them.
I need to go look.
Another dog is barking but it is a different one than the one earlier. It is much farther away.
Whatever is on the deck is making a bit of a racket knocking things around.
I better go see what it is.

Clintmemo's phone, which displayed this message, was found in the clutch of a bloody, severed hand. Clint is still missing to this day.

It took me far too long but I finally got Folding @ Home working and stable.

Same here. I saw a couple of Linus Tech Tips videos on the subject recently, and I set up my gaming tower today. Are you folding for a team or working anonymously? Not that the points really matter. Just curious.

I was inspired to reinstall F@H by the same vids so working for team LTT. It just took me this long to find a configuration that actually churned out WUs without overheating my system.

I had an idea, and a little Googling suggests this should work.

Each CPU and GPU in a computer running the Folding@Home client has one workload slot, and they do not work together on jobs. If you have two GPUs, there's no reason why folding should require SLI. I have an old GTX 750 TI in a box on a shelf doing nothing. If I pop that into my machine, I can have that card dedicated to constant folding even while my RTX 2060 and i7 4790k are handling video games.

If this works, I can fight COVID-19 and boredom at the same time!

Well, the GTX 750 TI did what it was supposed to. It's as slow as molasses, but it does indeed add a third usable slot with no obvious problems. I spent the last couple of hours playing Skyrim and folding at the same time, and right now I've got three slots folding instead of just two. I'd call that a success.
