Giving back to the boot...

Postby Dan » Tue Mar 10, 2009 11:46 am

This was on the old forum, so I figured I'd move it here.

Obviously we don't charge for any of this, and we don't have a donation link. So if you appreciate what we do here, there are two things you can do to help us out...

1. Tell a friend. A growing listener base makes us feel good, but more importantly, it allows us to keep trying bigger, more ambitious things (like Fear the Con).

2. Wherever you pick up your podcasts, give us a positive review. When we started this show, we made a pledge to leave no socket puppet reviews of our show, and we've stuck to that. But those little star-ratings are some of the most important advertising we have, since it's often the first things people see when they're looking for new shows.

I can't list them all, but here's where you can find us on the biggest one...

I often mention and reccomend the 'cast to friends.

I'm curious; what is the listenership up to for the show?

Always bearing in mind that:
1. Internet statistics are always titchy.
2. Any listeners of WRPG wouldn't be counted.
C. The community is, amazingly, more than the listenership.

(Hot damn, that last point is a doozy. What a thing FtB has turned out as...)

1. You are so very right. Our numbers jump and bump wildly for a weekly show that is supposed something that the majority of people auto download via an RSS feed, you'd think it would be way more consistent. But it is not. In fact, we don't even look at our numbers any more. We have gone from 2000 to 6000 to 3000 back to 6000 down to 1500 back up to 6000 all within the course of a month or two. Are we really losing THOUSANDS of people only to gain back THOUSANDS more? I don't think so.

2. Listeners of WRPG and any of the other multi podcastcast networks we are on.

and

C... 1, 2, C?

C. I'm blown away by this all of the time. We never though anyone would listen to us and, for whatever reason, we caught on and now this thing called Fear the Boot has grown bigger than any of us.

I'm still trying to catch up. I'm only on episode 61 but I do enjoy the 'cast. I have let others know to listen. Thanks for making my commute easier.
I don't fail. I succeed at finding what doesn't work.
