Yeah, but IRC is blocked at work. The forums aren't. Ergo, Forums > IRC.

Bump of epic.

So there was a D&D campaign going on in chat for a short while. Wihzerd ran it. Ended last night though. It was a good run, hats off to the Wihz for making political intrigue work its way into a game that literally started by him telling people to roll initiative while they were in the middle of a non D&D conversation. i liked my Cleric too, wish I had more time to develop him.

/me would like to see more RPGs on the IRC channel and/or on their own channel so as to not disturb chat

...

/me forgot he is posting on the forums instead of on IRC.

Been talking about a bot that acts as a die roller. Anyone have info on this?

I might jump on the channel later tonight to test this out.

Every time I hop on the IRC channel, lately (for the past 2 days) nobody's on...

sigh...

It's a bit strange. I fired up one while you were idle. PM and /msg work for private dice rolls. /notice appears to write something, but all the other users were off in zombie land so I could not confirm.

There's also a join delay built in to the IRC server, so it takes a minute before the bot actually joins after it is started up.

I've fooled around with IRC a bit - honestly, I'd rather have an AIM Blast Group or similar functionality. It's a glossier interface (pleasing to the eye) and it's a lot easier to get other people involved than having to get them into IRC. I've got AIM set up for another forum I'm involved with as a blast group, and it works out very well at doing what group live chat does best - making confusing mishmashes of five simultaneous conversations. :/
