Recommend A Microphone?

Postby Devin Parker » Fri Oct 04, 2019 1:28 am

Not sure if this is precisely the place to post this but oh, well, here it is.

I run my regular weekly games via Discord. Lately I’ve been having some difficulty with my earbuds that have a mic built in. They’re usually okay, but in this last session my voice kept cutting out. So I’ve started to wonder if maybe I should invest in something akin to a podcasting microphone, or one that Twitch streamers might use.

I don’t have any plans to go into podcasting, and I may never actually use my Twitch account for anything except watching others (though I do occasionally daydream), so I don’t know if I want to drop a whole lot of money on this, but since I am GMing two weekly games now, it seems like it might be a good investment.

Does anyone more knowledgeable about this kind of equipment have any recommendations for me? I’m a tech noob when it comes to audio equipment, so I may not be aware of basics, here.

I am a big fan of the Blue Yeti. Good price, very versatile, and incredibly reliable.
