went to slackers at the old fantasy shop location. they didn't get much in, and i was 8th in line 10min before opening.

picked up the alice in chains dual 7in and the pink floyd picture disc.

i'm not a fan of picture discs, they tend to ruin the sound. but i like pf and i was there to buy stuff. turns out this edition is limited to 650 copies, so i put it on ebay. it's already up to triple what i paid. :o when it sells i'll wait a while and try to pick up the other records i wanted with the profits

had much better luck at the big fairmount park garage sale yesterday. got 3 classic albums and 4 45s for $10 total (bob dylan, chuck berry, guns n roses, duran duran, john lennon)

i really need to get a spin clean or some record cleaning system for thrift store/garage sale finds. it looks like they're 80 bucks though..

nice, what kind is that? new or used?

if you're looking for anything record wise, i've got a bunch for sale/trade.

also good use for magic playmats ;)

I was wondering about cleaning vinyl. I have been sorting through all the 40+ year old records that have been sitting in my basement for 20+ years and was going to start playing them again but some are kinda dirty.

this is what i was talking about:

there are other cheaper methods, but the spin clean is tried and true

While vinyl is not a good medium (post-1975), here's a fascinating example making the most of its limitations.

got the sublime, pink floyd, linkin park, and a led zepplin 7in on record store day. i wasn't gonna go at all, but stopped by slackers as we were out by one. better selection than they had last year, and didn't need to stand in any lines.

It's new. It was their best recommended "entry level" player. Can't remember the exact model off the top of my head (it's currently at my parents place).

But it's pretty solid. Cost about 100 bucks iirc. Good quality, you can plug digital speakers right into it.

I didn't bother this year, nothing really excited me. I like RtJ but I don't collect vinyl singles and I don't care about slip mats or boxes.
