Netsweeper blocking Fear the Boot

Postby sbonner » Mon Oct 31, 2016 2:58 pm

Just posting this in case any of you are behind the Netsweeper netnanny program. This morning, Fear the Boot triggered the pornography warning for Netsweeper at my library*. I don't know why, and see no reason for the status to have changed. I reported the miscategorization to our service provider, which is also our contact for Netsweeper. I do not know if that will help a bit. It may be worthwhile for a FTB site admin to contact Netsweeper directly to request to be taken off the pornography list. https://www.netsweeper.com/company/customer-support/

* Some years back, the US Congress held hostage all federal grant money intended for public libraries, in order to force public libraries to put netnanny programs in place. That's why Netsweeper is on my radar. At my library, we use Netsweeper, set to the minimal settings required. We also keep no browsing history or password records, set https by default, encrypt what we can, and have TOR browser available on all patron PCs -- just so you know I'm not one of the bad guys.

I'm the owner and administrator of the website, www.feartheboot.com. This is a website that talks about tabletop gaming, like board games, card games, etc. We don't allow any form of pornography to be posted to our site. However, we've apparently been categorized by your software as a pornographic website for some reason. Could you please review this categorization?

If there's particular content someone has posted that I'm not aware of, then it's in violation of our own rules, and I'd like to remove it. If there is no such content, then this may be a miscategorization of our site, and I'd greatly appreciate being removed from that particular category.

Thank you very much for your help!

Dan

Thanks for passing this along, Scott. I just sent this note to their staff.
Holy or unholy. Only one homie. Only this gun. Lonely 'cause don't anyone know me.

Excellent! Since I see the block screen almost every day, I will be able to tell you when and if they change the categorization.

I noticed today that the forum is no longer blocked by Netsweeper.
