Nowadays, I've got to agree with you, which I find unfortunate. Before, well ... they were easy. Simple. Plug and play. You put in the game and it worked. No fiddling with settings, patches, compability issues, or any of the other crap that plagued PC gaming. You bought a game, put it in the console, and most of the time it just worked.
Now, though ... Well, PC gaming has gotten easier and Consoles have gone all to fuck trying to make themselves into PCs. Except Nintendo, but because they insist on focusing on (admittedly nifty) gimmicks rather than ZOMG MOAR PAOWUR, they get fuck-all third party support, which unfortunately disincentivises people from making game consoles that are actually game consoles rather than hamstrung PCs. *headdesk*
I hate the modern game industry. So very, very much. And now I'm done derailing this thread, and I'll let someon else get to it.
