I'm going to make a guess:
Fixing this will likely require Dan's involvement.
Dan is neck deep right in work right now, and will likely continue to be for the next several weeks.
Barring an answer as easy as "oh, we just need to change *this* setting" I'm guessing it could easily be mid-April before a resolution is had.
I don't use Tapatalk and so can't duplicate the issue, and I don't think any of the other hosts/admins do, either, which is also likely to make a fix difficult.
I'll see if this is a known issue of some sort, though, in case it really is something I can fix.

Dan just updated Tapatalk to the latest patch.
Has that made any impact? (I assume it won't help with PMs, since I think that still isn't supported, but it may help with the crashes).
Let me know what you find, and I'll keep an eye out for additional fixes from them.

Sorry... I'm not sure that we can do a ton about it.

Just got around to checking on mine, and still no message option. But I was unaware that the forum had been modified to fit on browsers very well, and I just checked that. It works great and I'll just use that for now
