You can google and read it yourself. I advise you not to.

Oh

OHHHHHHHH

You mean that old internet parable.

I thought this "Jolly Rancher Story" was something from personal experience.

Now I am a little disappointed.

I thought we mentioned that it was Reddit/Internet story but I guess in our horror and disgust we forgot to say that.

Looked it up to be sure. That story has been circulating the internet longer than Reddit has been a thing. I first heard it on the school yard in 2002.

Ok, that's gross but it's not the gross story I thought it was.

Episode topic suggestion: Those Who Serve a Higher Power

We've all seen it; the player who plays a cleric as nothing more than a battlefield medic, the warlock serving some dark power who basically ignores any kind of relationship with the being she relies upon for her abilities. How often have you seen a priest actually kneel down and pray (and I don't mean casting the Prayer spell)? When have you seen the holder of a demonic pact struggle with the moral conflicts it demands of them? How often have you seen a priest get out and preach, try to convert people to the Faith, or even do anything that serves the aims of the church rather than himself and the immediate scenario?

I'd like to hear a discussion of ways to role-play these sort of characters to get the most out of them. Advice for players would be really useful, because I think a lot of players just don't realise the potential they're missing. And also advice for GMs in how to encourage and reward this kind of deeper characterisation. Things they can do on behalf of the deity or other being to push the character to actually represent them a bit more.

I'd listen to such an episode, if you were to do it.

Like Hengis in our Elder Scrolls play by post. He's an excellent example of a priest that lives out the ethos of his god, does the work of his god, and gets pushed in difficult ways by his god. Boethiah informs every major decision Hengis makes, and Hengis in turn steers the entire group to fulfill Boethiah's will. Helpful also that it is a god on the outs, so that every mention raises suspicion as if it were a demon. It makes the repeated mention of Boethiah dramatic instead of tedious.
