Just to run with your genre shift game idea...

D-Man
You're an agent that works for one of the great Dimension Powers (Gods by any other name) and you are gifted and/or cursed with travelling from dimension to dimension to set things right. Or, at least make them right as your D-Entity (Deity?) sees fit. Of course, there are other agents out there working for other DPs and they don't have the same ideas of universal harmony and control that you do.

As mentioned in the show, the paradigm/genre can shift easily. The game literally made for this is Instant Game created by Nerd Pride Radio (the group formerly known as Animalball.)
http://www.nerdprideradio.com/Content/Downloads/InstantGame.pdf

IG has a wonderful set of tables for 'instantly' creating a setting and we can leverage that for creating the various places in space time that our agents can travel to (via whim of the DP, of course.) It should be no surprise that D-Men are actually known in some realms for their broken morals and meddling, they're just called Demons there. Feel free to shameless borrow from the TV show Sliders or Tritac's Weird Zone RPG. :-)

Repost from Facebook:
Since you're both Kiwi's, you missed the obvious generation ship with a "helpful" AI: The Starlost. So bad, it's bad.

And to increase your misery:

It's the series where Walter Koenig guest starred as an alien, with no makeup or other indications that he wasn't anything other than human...

I ran this as a game, using each episodes premise _as written_ and through the third game, the players were going WTF man! And I said, I didn't make any of this stuff up. One of them braved the first three episodes and said, "You weren't kidding. It is that bad."

Did a little digging and found my promo for the game:

You have lived your life in the village for as long as you can remember. You till the fields, raise the crops, and every harvest, a portion of your farm's yield goes to the great machine in the center of the land. In turn, you receive other food stuffs, fish, fowl, bamboo shoots, rice. and other crops. This happens every season.

Your world is 50 miles wide and ends at a great crystal dome that arcs over, framing the sky. At night, the stars come out, stars the eldest in your village do not remember seeing.

However, today is different. The sons of the village's headmen are now proud fathers of several strong baby boys. But now the village's population is too large to feed, since the eldest villages are still quite hale and healthy. The headmen declares that a lot will be held. Those chosen will have to leave the village and enter the machine.

You are one of those that were chosen, and on the day of reckoning, you will be exiled from your village into the machine...

This adventure is based on the incredibly crappy TV series, The Starlost.

Your character is from an Agricultural dome, from an agrarian culture with the appropriate skills.

GM: John Reiher
System: Risus w/Boons & Banes
Players: 3-6
Characters: Made cooperatively on game day.

It's ... so bad.
Even that voiceover felt really clumsy.

Not gonna lie, I'm going to watch at least the first episode - Might even record the experience as a warning to future generations not to repeat the mistakes of the past.

~edit~
Ohhh, poor Walter Koenig. You can almost see the 'just think of the money, Walter' expression on his face.

I loved the exchange:

"This is the worst idea we've ever had."

"We have to workshop it!"
"Space is blue, and birds fly through it." - Werner Heisenberg

Cookie dough, ergo sum.

In it's own way, it means that this topic is very popular and worthy of spamming. They don't waste their time with topics no one looks at. Dos Viagra Komrade!

Episode Ninety – Scorpion Dancing

Image

Extraordinarily modified overlords delve into their own forgotten pasts to discover how, and why, they came to be the people they are today.

TAZ has just what you require for all your genre-hopping gaming needs.

Kedamono introduces two culturally-impoverished folks from the Edge of the Empire to possibly the worst generation ship story ever.

What would cause someone to make a deal with an entity they KNOW is going to turn on them? And what happens to the people dragged into that dance of consequences and avoidance?

 I'm just going to go ahead and put out a desperate plea for ideas for episode 91 right now - I feel like I should recuse myself from it.
 Or possibly go to confession, which will be a very odd experience for someone who was reluctantly educated Scots Presbyterian

Scorpion Dancing is the name of the Eclipse Phase adventure that I have not written yet. The PCs are sent to a Jovian research facility and arrive sleeved in the bodies of scorpion morphs in order to survive the crushing gravity and pressure. The Dancing comes from the fact that that everything involves local factions and politics that the PCs will need to dodge and weave through. Can they solve the murders, uncover the mysteries, and survive the backstabbing that awaits them?
