Episode Ninety Seven – My story is essentially the tale of Juan Bobo, only dumber

Image

One player, multiple GMs?  What chance does that protagonist have, unless they are the very stuff of fable?

Craig Destroys Democracy (at least according to Ben)

An inspiring yet incompetent captain and a resourceful and long-suffering crew.  Shenanigans ahoy!

Heroes don the mantle of the gods, attempting to change the very fabric of reality.

I really like the idea of Captain Juan Bobo: Plot Monkey. :-)

Is Juan Bobo a Bonobo?

I liked the idea of a campaign where the goal was not so much to succeed as to stave off as much disaster as possible. "Well, the ship is mostly intact and no arterial blood was shed. I'm counting this as a win."

Of course, if he's a Bonobo, then his other go to solution for most problems is to have sex with the source of the problem...

"Yes, it was an Orca... don't judge, it let us go didn't it?"

I was initially wondering whether an Apocalypse World hack would fit Juan Bobo, on the grounds that the game is a bit less about the adventures and a bit more about the idiots following Juan Bobo.

The Bobobo thing makes me wonder whether you'd keep the sex moves, but tweak them to be about what you do when your captain is ... "problem-solving".

Episode Ninety Eight – Evil Sidekick Hangout

Image

Henchmen On A Train
Evil sidekicks plot to kill off each other’s Villains.

Sticking it to the Übermensch
Heroes are assigned sidekicks, even if they don’t really want them, and having seen behind the cape, as it were, the teen protege’s are underwhelmed & disaffected, and turn to villainy.
Trouble is, they’re still a bit crap.

The Supermanchurian Candidate
Sidekick usually means ‘hero’, so why are there evil sidekicks? Why are they hanging out? What are they up to?

The Sidekicks Who Knew Too Much
Wholesome & hopelessly naïve sidekicks go slumming it on a night out, and choose … Poorly
I've somehow ended up in a podcast

Sorry, real life (What's that?) prevented me from posting an idea for Evil Sidekick Hangout.

I will mention that a friend of mine, Laura Mortensen, came up with H.I.T.S.

It was fun, we would play a bunch of incompetent henchmen and lackeys, trying to do a job for our "boss", which invariably ran afoul of Union Rules. (My character was the local union rep of the Benevolent Brotherhood of Minions, Lackeys, and Henchmen. Had to have that 15 minute break every two hours!) This ranged from your typical rob a bank, to breaking into the lair of that now dead super villain Micheal Jackson (Neverland Ranch) for our boss Prince. We tended to use rules light stuff, like RISUS or PDQ.

Episode Ninety Nine – Canned Pasta and Other Nightmares

Image

A behemoth interstellar freighter hauls its dangerous cargo, as well as it’s crew and their baggage.

The day “The Excerebrators” arrived and put your brain in a forklift was pretty traumatic. But even after they are overthrown, can you go home?

The phase “Untouchably Sexy Maglev Trains.”

Hench-men placement services and work place negotiation with super villains.
