Yesterdays view from Macafees Knob on the Appalachian trail. Temperature was 67 degrees yesterday. Great day for a hike. Image

It may be cold and stark around here, but it sure is pretty.

Pretty. But I think no trees would eventually mess with my head.

The trees just get in the way of the view. ;)

Go outside? Not at 11:00 on this lovely Canada Day. Lightning and very heavy rain did this. I took a video of the rain but haven't figured out how to post that yet.

Here are some pictures from our summer vacation. First, a very brief stop at Louisbourg (pronounced in the French way, if you don't mind). The Fortress of Louisbourg is the largest reconstruction project in North America. The original settlement was founded near the tip of Cape Breton Island in 1713 by the French. Louisbourg was besieged twice before finally being destroyed in the 1760s. The site is a modern archaeological reconstruction of the fortress as it was in the 18th century. We didn't take any shots of the fortifications, but here are some shots of the village part.
