What have you watched recently?

Seen any good movies or TV shows lately? Or anything so bad you just have to vent?

Watched the WWII horror/action movie Overlord the other night. It's a fun little genre flick. Paratroopers are dropping into France to prepare for D-Day. Their job is take out a radio tower coordinating defensive air responses. The stumble onto Nazi weird science creating 'super'-soldiers. It's horror influenced but isn't really a horror movie. The action is decent. A couple real show stopping action sequences. It's ultimately just a fun pop-corn movie.

Lovecraft Country is gooooooood.

Smart and moves a lot faster than you think it would. I'm still shocked the end of episode 2 wasn't a season finale.

Watched Greyhound over the long weekend. Yup. Tom Hanks can act. I love WWII movies. This was a tense story. And I loved it.

Watched Babysitter 2: Killer Queen last night. Glorious cheesy, B-movie horror. It's a brain off, jump scare, gory/funny/shocking kills, ode to the B-movie of old. It might have my favorite 'sex scene replacement montage' I have ever scene.

Did you see the one where he negotiates a cold war hostage exchange from a few years ago? Spielberg directed it and fuck me if he isn't still the best at what he does. I feel like that one flew under that radar; I was shocked by how good it was.

Agree completely. The star is such a talent for one so young. She managed to dominate the screen no matter who else was sharing it, no mean feat with a cast like that. I was also hugely impressed by Henry Cavill, playing Sherlock. Having such a big name and towering figure playing the more famous sibling was an enormous risk, but he managed to convey the character while never stealing the limelight from his younger co-star.

Sherlock Holmes as an angsty teenage girl as played by rated PG Deadpool. :D

Seriously,
Good fun flick and Milly Bobbie Brown really does dominate it. When she turns and talks to the audience about 45 seconds into the movie, you're either completely hooked or totally repulsed.

I appreciate how they made her both a fearless genius and a naive teen age girl.

Plus - Burn Gorman. He's in everything.
