S'ok. I had a terrible cold for the last few days that just wiped me out. No rush.

Mid run, you leap through the air and spin, letting your momentum carry your hand-axe from your grasp even as you complete your spin and land in a perfect roll. Continuing your run unbroken, you hear a wet thud as your hand-axe spins through the air and lodges itself deep into the beast’s snout (17 dmg), followed by a second thud of a body hitting the floor.

Whoa! 17 damage with a hand axe... :P I think Ashik and Melody are going to get along just fine.

I totally thought it was gonna sail right on past and I'd have to pull something out of my butt to not die, as I end up getting impaled through the gut and pinned to the ground...Then I remembered that Ashik is currently disguised as a 6 year old child. Even if I missed, I don't think Arbuthnott could bring himself to harm a child. :naughty:

Of course, the 20 AC probably helped.

Truthfully, though, Ashik is not meant to be a warrior, especially in his weakened state. He's just a hunter with a huge grab-bag of tricks.

My final post to both Tao and Fallout provide a good example of something. While I'm doing 1 on 1 stuff with you guys, sometimes I'll take frequent pauses in the narrative to give you the opportunity to contribute without running too far ahead.

With both of you, you've already outlined what you want to do at an earlier point (help the men with the carriage, go to Ryvauld, etc), and you might have nothing more you want to add and want me to just get on with it. If that's the case, please feel free to let me know; I want to give you the opportunity to interject, but that doesn't mean you have to if you feel you've already said everything you want to.

I'm still trying to work out a good rhythm for posting and pausing and the like, so if you feel like you'd prefer to speed up a particular scene or slow down to explore it more, I'm happy to accommodate.

No worries on my end. If I have something to add, I will definitely do so. Mostly, however, I'm just reacting to things as they develop. I will likely be a bit more proactive once we get to the Mawr and there are more options to explore, but for now I'm "just walkin' the trail," taking in the sights and sounds of the forest, and enjoying the afternoon. I'm sure our paths will cross in time when it makes narrative sense to do so, and, until then, I will continue to "walk the path." :D

It looks like we are now all in sight of the town. Whether it's the same town is a question for later.

But I can't help but notice the absence of drive around here. Come on guys, at this rate I'm going to get there first, spend a week or two seeing the sights and shopping, and probably leave town again before either of you do anything. ;)

I've got a nice dungeon lined up for us to explore. Don't let me have all the fun! :D

So, the observant among you will have noticed the flurry of activity as Arbuthnott and I have posted Melody's early adventures, prior to the point at which she encountered the slavers. This was all done originally via the Discord chat, but I felt it would be nice to have it all in the same place and accessible for others to read if they want to catch up. Arbuthnott has a transcript of the whole story so far, and kindly agreed to help me post it here in a couple of tag-team sessions over the past two days.

You can see that she has been quite busy since starting, back on the 29th October last year. Hopefully this all helps to explain why she is already 2nd level, while the other characters are still 1st. I think it also helps to give further insight into Melody's personality and background. I've enjoyed reading along with the other characters' tales, so hopefully you will enjoy mine too. :)

I look forward to reading it. I have enjoyed what I've read so far of your guy's adventures. I've have fallen behind on that reading need to catch up.

Is there a discord server for this game? or has it just been private DMs?

Quick question Arbuthnott: is this situation something I can expect with Saphire being exposed to bright light for too long or is something else going on? I imagined dazzled to be more of a irritation you can endure what was described here was more akin to how I imagine the sickened condition to feel.

There is no dedicated Discord server forthis game. We just used its DM function for rapid fire posting, as my PM account here is full up and the main forum seemed a bit open at the time. With hindsight I'd have used the main forum from the outset, as I've come to realise the advantages of open access outweigh the disadvantages.

And, on your current situation, I'm no expert, but it looks like more than just a trick of the light to me. ;)
