You grab the nearest sturdy looking fruit to hand, a delicious red orb with a green stalk that fills your hand, and throw it with all of your strength at the assailant. His eyes widen as he catches sight of the projectile, but he fails to avoid it colliding with the side of his face and bursting in a shower of juice and seeds (4 nl-dmg). Startled and disoriented, he rubs the juice from his face while still holding the dagger in plain sight of the crowd that have turned to observe the scene at your cry.

The man takes an angry step forward, perhaps towards you or perhaps towards the moustached man, but doesn’t get far before several people rush from the crowd to tackle him, forcefully removing his knife.

The moustached man watches everything happen with wide eyes. He glances at the merchant in the headpiece and his lackeys who seem to have slunked away in the chaos, before turning to you. “Ah.. you saved me, dwarf. Thank you,” he breaths out with a slightly breathy voice. “Do you.. ah.. do you know who that is?”

"While I don't know either." Saphire says "Which one do you mean? The one with the dagger or the one with the funny hat?"

The man pulls a face before nodding curtly at the assailant being pinned to the ground by a rather burly woman. “Funny hat indeed. No, I am perhaps too familiar with Jasso. I was hoping..”

Whatever he was hoping goes unvoiced as a cry of alarm draws your attention to the dagger hurtling through the air in the space between both of your heads. Time seems to slow for you as it whistles past, imbedding itself into the fruit stand with a strange hum. The woman formally pinning the assailant down stands clutching a bloody wrist, while the man in black pushes his way through a panicked crowd away from you.

The moustached man begins to pick himself up from where he dove to avoid the dagger, his face beginning to turn a deep shade of puce. “Gods, man! He’s getting away.” And with a shtink he draws his cutlass and begins to give chase.

"Sorry about your cart" Saphire says as she grabs a more fruit. "Some peoples children. I'll pay you for these too." She shrugs and starts throwing more fruit at the would be assassin.

Going to keep hurling fruit until he gets out of range or he is subdued.

After the last one burst apart into juice, you reach for a different fruit which feels much harder in the hand. Taking careful aim, you launch it through the air and watch it impact a young woman as the assassin barrels past her. With a solid thunk, she hits the ground. The assassin slowly pushes his way deeper into the crowd, with his target several meters behind.

At this point, the assassin is nearing the edge of your range; you put a lot into that last throw, and he’s gotten quite a bit further by the time you grab another fruit, but you think you might just be able to reach him if you act quickly. Without even taking the time to line up your shot, you heave the largest piece of fruit you could find with all of your strength, watching with bated breath as it soars high above the crowd. With an unpleasant crack, the fruit hits the assassin in the back of the head and splits (8 nl-dmg*); the man in question stumbles to his knees. On unsteady legs he picks himself back up and takes another couple of steps before collapsing to the ground.

The shocked fruit vendor lets out a whistle as he watches the scene unfold. “That’s some good aim, lass. You keep the money; just make sure you point anyone you tell this to towards my stand, alright?”

"I'll be sure to let 'em know you gave me a more than fair deal when I recount the tale" Saphire says before she and Blottur wander away from the area.

The crowd thins as you leave the scene, people moving past you to find out what all of the commotion is. As you resume your journey, you see a curious stall built into a side alley; the thick linen ceiling casting the shop into thick darkness broken only by the many lit candles. The many crystals reflex the light in a beautiful manner, luring in the eye.

As you look closer, a man with a hunchback looms towards you and beckons you in. The sounds of animals makes this a noisy place, and a thin smoke clouds the air, but it somehow doesn't look out of place in the middle of a busy town. With a grin displaying blackened teeth, the man shows you his wares.

Saphire is little surprised how obtainable magic seems to be on the surface. First town I come to and there is just spells for purchase. A little different than the closely guarded prayers of the priests.

"I'm interested in this scroll of Know Protections," Saphire says to the hunchback "I'll give you fifteen gold pieces for it."

The hunchback peers at you with a bulbous, piercing eye. "Eighteen gold, no lower," he barks, before levelling you with a sly look. "We got a nice deal going if you need money: Seventy Five gold for a vial of blood given freely; Ten for forcefully taken."

"I'm good," Saphire says as she counts out the eighteen gold pieces "Just the scroll please." She offers the money to him in one hand and holds her hand out for her purchase.
