I thought I had posted that Dollin had hid himself and was prepped to cast flare to distract goblins should the need arise?

Ah, sorry, I must have missed that. So, Dollin is hiding and not going to be the spokesman, then. In that case I think Fallout still needs a hide check from you.

Dollin's hide: 19 + 5 = 24

He's really hidden!

So, is now a good time to ask for a recap on skills? :eh:

'Cos only one of the three of us has any. ;)

Sure. None of you have should have. When you want to do something normally covered by skills in 3.5, I'll call for a check you roll adding the appropriate stat mod. we compare it vs a DC I set based on how hard I think it should be for your character given your class, background, and any other factors.

Well I was rolling good for everyone. nothing lower than a 17 for those hide checks. Then along comes Doug and gets an 8 which after his modifier is a 7.

i thought I'd have the goblin fall backward on his butt and scramble away screaming "Ambush". But then I thought maybe Doug might be able to do something in the half second before that happens to prevent it. He's about arm's reach away from you.

Er... okay, I think we have a bit of a misunderstanding here.

Reading your IC post it sounds like you have Doug and Jacob as the ones hiding, waiting for the goblin patrol to go past them towards the main group (with illusory dwarf squad).

But as I understand our plan it is Jacob, Rowan and Billie who are doing that, with Dollin hiding somewhere away from both groups, and Doug with Acker and Violet's dwarf squad up the trail a bit, concealed by some bushes.

If the goblin has reached Doug the patrol should already be well past the hidden ones and facing 20 or so dwarves.

Are you thinking that the main group (Violet, Acker, Doug and dwarves) are easily visible from the road? Or are you planning to 'step out' of concealment when the goblins reach you?

I was thinking that we'd wait until the goblins are past you three, then step out and appear to be marching along the trail towards the goblins. But if Doug is bad at hiding the goblins might spot him early and get the chance to react to "something in the bushes up ahead" before we emerge.

I guess the question is whether they have gone past you when that happens.
