Pastor Katrina, face full of sympathy, nods. "Busy we shall keep you. The sun has set and so should we. Tomorrow your training begins. You will have much work and study and will need rest. If your thoughts prevent you from sleeping, You can borrow my copy of the Grain Mother's writ." She hands Doug a small, plain book titled Blessings of the Grain Mother. "If you like I can lead you in the prayer we usually say at sunset?"

Doug takes the book and clasps it to his chest.

"That would be marvellous, thank you."

Pastor Katrina leads Doug in the Sunset prayers and afterward says goodnight. As Doug head back to the bunkhouse he experiences a warm comforting feeling. Like he is at that moment connected to something greater. He falls asleep while reading, the borrowed book resting against his chest, open to the last page he read.

***

After breakfast the Violet and Dollin [and possibly Acker] set off through the city to the Guild Hall of the Gilded Rosemallow. The group has no trouble following the directions given by Pastor Katrina. The hall is a more of a large two story house. A white banners on either side of the main entrance are adorned with a five petal rose gold flower. As the group gets closer to they notice three people waiting outside.

***

Rowan and Billie had come to the guild hall before the sun was up. Rowan hadn't wanted to but his sister couldn't be persuaded to sleep in. Billie had heard the Gilded Rosemallow had a small library of rare books which might help her decipher the map. Despite being early they were not the first ones there a beggar had camped out on the porch. The man was now sitting waiting for the hall open as and the group from West Haven arrive.

Not long after arriving at the Gilded Rosemallow, Rowan sat himself with his back against a wall, prepared for a long wait. He passes the time watching the clouds and birds pass by, and then as the morning progresses by observing people going about their business. He is the first to spot the approaching troupe, and the corners of his mouth raise into a smile as you approach. With a casual flick with one hand amounting to a wave, he calls out "Ho there!"

Billie is less attentive. She was impatient as she draged Rowan to the Rosemallow before dawn, and she hadn't slowed down in the intervening wait. Between pacing, hopping from foot to foot and trying to engage the beggar in conversation, she was brimming with energy. As you approach, she's attempting to pace while only walking on cracks in the road (or rocks, if it's a dirt road) all the while reading her book. She hasn't noticed you yet, despite Rowan's greeting.

Violet feels quite excited by the prospect of this guild and the potential it might have, and she is uncharacteristically forward when they are hailed by one of the humans outside the building.

"Hello there, is this the Gilded Rosemallow? Are you the welcoming committee or just visiting like we are?"

"Aye, you're at the right place. We're just visiting, ourselves", he gestures at Billie and himself.

Billie looked up as Violet spoke. She swiftly stows her book before considering the group before her. Her eyes narrow briefly, before she breaks out in a grin and skips over towards you. "'avn't seen you around here before. Jus' come in? How're ya finding Crestwall?"

Dollin whistles a jaunty little tune as the crew walks through the city streets. Truth be told, he loves the life of a city. It's just that to this point, cities have had more active watchmen and that's cramped some of his... business opportunities. But now that he's turned over a new leaf... well, while things might be tough for the world, they are looking up for him.

Acker, however, is overwhelmed. He walks a little like a tourist, neck craned, constantly shocked at the number of people, buildings, vehicles... just everything. He's tentative and slow and several times is almost left behind by his fellow travelors.

Dollin follows Violet's lead, "A beautiful day in this fair, city, no? And Crestwall is a wonderful place. Are you from here?" Before doffing his head and giving a bow.

While Dollin engages in conversation with the human woman, Violet takes the opportunity to study the other man present, the one who has the appearance of a beggar. She's looking for any sign that he is not quite what he appears to be.

Billie turns to Dollin, still grinning. "Defini'ely shapin' up to be, isn'it?."

"Yeah, me family owns the pawn shop on the other end of town. Whether you got money to spend," she gives you all a subtle look over as she says this, "or you need money fast, the shop'll have wha' you need. So, wha' brings you to the Rosemallow?" She looks over you again for a second before volunteering, "I've heard they go' a decent collection of books, if tha' interests any of you?"

Behind her, Rowan snorts at Billie's antics with fond exasperation.

Dollin goes from happy to beaming at the mention of a pawn shop. "Oh, I am indeed familiar with the treasures and treats made available by a pawn shop. As for why we have come to Rosemallow, our little band has recently stumbled upon the career of freelance problem solvers seeing as we," of course his thumbs point at himself, "saved a bunch of poor, innocent farmers from some evil tree creatures intent on murder and unwilling reproduction."

After hearing about the book, Dollin replies, "Well, I've been known to do a bit of studying. But it's not my preferred way to spend time. And on that subject, seeing as you're a local, perhaps you could recommend a pub or two with good ale and patrons known to be generous to artists?"
