"And what is this thing you seek?" Seratha asks "And why wouldn't you just ask us to bring it out for you?"

"Ah, well that, you see, is a matter of trust," replies Doug, with a sigh. :)

"Did I mention that we've had prior dealings with goblins? Not the most... er... reliable folk to do business with, in our experience. Of course, your goblins might be wholly trustworthy. But you can't just rely on that, these days, I'm sorry to say."

"What are you doing here, anyway? It seems a very... out of the way kind of place."

Acker voice is more polite now when he adds... "We do just want to retrieve the item. Your friends ill be free to go as soon as we are certain they won't harm us."

"I thought this was out of the way enough." Seratha says "A place for my tribe to grow undisturbed by the so called civilized races. It seems I was a bit naive. You speak of trust. Of not trusting my kind. Yet how am I to trust you. Your kind are the ones who hunted all the goblin ਰਾਣੀ aeons ago. Leaving all the ਨਾਗਰਿਕ leaderless and struggling. I am the first born in a long time. I don't intend to repeat the mistakes of my grandmothers."

"You make a very good point, Seratha," replies Doug.

"Trust is a difficult thing, on both sides, when we each have such a long history of distrust to look back on. But perhaps here we have a chance to take some small step towards building a better future."

"I think we've already made a good start. We have only captured your goblins instead of killing them, as our forebears most likely would have. You have chosen to come and speak with us rather than fight. What we want from the tomb you inhabit is not going to do you or your people any harm."

"Is there anything we could help you with, that is causing you problems? If we can each agree to do something to help the other, that might begin to forge a bit of trust... and who knows, we might eventually become friends!"

"Currently the only problem we have is you, holding my people hostage" Seratha says. "However you seem somewhat reasonable. I am considering escorting some of you into our home. How many would you need to carry this item out? And you said it won't harm us but what assurance can you give that it won't be useful."

Acker glances at Doug, uncertainty on his face. "If it ain't too big, I volunteer to go in with her and carry it out."

Looking to Seratha, Acker adds, "I'll even go in unarmed. You know, building trust."

Acker looks very nervous... but certain.

"Well, so long as we can find it... I think just two of us ought to be sufficient. If we should run into any difficulties we can always call upon others to lend a hand as needed."

"So, if you are agreeable, Acker here and I will go with you." :)

He pauses, considering Seratha's other question...

"As for its usefulness... I think it fair to say that possession of it would certainly bring you more trouble than benefit." :eh:

Billie, still wearing the ring, arrives just in time to hear Doug say "So, if you are agreeable, Acker here and I will go with you."

"Alright then" Seratha says lithely jumping down from the branch she was on. "I help you find this item in my home you seek and upon our return here you release your captives. I have you word your people won't harm mine?" She steps toward Doug her open hand offered to him to shake on the deal.

"You have my word," agrees Doug, taking her hand.
