Insane doctor who becomes obsessed with TB patient pays for her grave (and later, mausoleum) when his unproven experimental treatments fail and she dies, then steals her body and keeps it, preserved, in his home for 7 years. People in the 1940s decide this is a romantic love story. (Link is to This American Life podcast.)

Furry convention cancelled after Alt-Right associated furries sparks fear of violence among attenders due to their symbol: a black paw against a red background.

I will not be surprised if we see these kind of conflicts spreading across the various fandoms over the next couple of years.

I just can't imagine someone saying, "I'm a furry, but I'm also proudly Aryan. White furry power."

Close. The leader of the Furry Raiders, Foxler Nightfire, identifies as #altfurry and #altright on his Twitter feed. Reportedly, his furry name, Foxler, is a shortening of "Fox Hitler".

If you can conceive it, someone has built their identity around it.

I swear to all the gods, devils and fae, the next time I get into a superhero game, I'm making Florida Man. His primary ranged attack will be thrown alligators.

LARPing got out of hand.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/25/americas/ ... index.html

More than 50 people carrying large caliber weapons, dynamite and caltrops took part in what authorities are calling the "robbery of the century."
