Jedi, soldiers, and Bounty Hunters are not only in different books, they are in different *games*. They call out in the GMing advice section of Force and Destiny that it takes quite a bit of GM work to make the three play nice together.

Wayne, get ahold of me. I'd suggest using a hack of Cortex Plus Marvel Heroic and Dramatic (you played Dramatic at the last fear the con) for this. I'm not all the way through yet, but it seems like exactly what you want.

Still listening...

Re: Multiple People controlling one thing via consensus:

I've heard Dan mention this sort of thing before (probably with respect to your Star Trek ship combat game), and I've thought it was interesting. In an RPG setting where it's "group of PCs" vs "GM characters", though, you'll probably want to consciously calibrate the opponents to allow for turns that produce sub-optimal results (perhaps they are also being governed by multiple entities that don't always agree...)

Wayne might be able to copy some things from the Space Cadets games where each person on the ship is in charge of a specific thing and playing a mini game that helps get it all done.

The Dice Duel one in particular.

Whats up with Biff working for George anyway. He tried to rape his wife in high school so let's hire him to work for me.

I sort of like the idea of the poll-taking / consensus version (although it sounds a bit clunky as presented), because it plays into the specific theme of a team-show like Power Rangers of building trust and agreeement and Our Hearts Are One in order to actually be able to win.

My 6 must haves:

1) Angsty teen drama(interpersonal relationships, self confidence issues, egos, etc)
2) Fast fluid narrative combat(hit points don't make sense, stress or momentum might)
3) Big giant robot fighting monsters(5 pilots)
4) Characters have 1-2 hobbies and one defines their fighting style(martial arts, gymnastics, dancefu)
5) Monsters can have strange abilities that don't make any sense with physics
6) Characters change powers depending on if they are morphed or not

I'd create the PCs (it IS a con one-shot) in Dramatic---let their high school stuff be there. Hobbies and backgrounds would be in there as an Asset. It allows for social conflict as well as physical when they're not in the Zords. The rolls can represent a series of hits and conversations.

I'd then give them a Zord sheet for Marvel Heroic. Works very close to the same and you'd only be using it for Combat. It'll give a more complex, but still relatively quick, combat when the Mechs come out. Marvel Heroic uses modeling to create characters and you can make them really quickly.
