I remember Oregon trail. Of course, I was in first grade in '99 or so, so there are also a few more sophisticated educational games that show up.

Thats why I don't play D&D either, and stick to lighter systems(Fudge for my heavy system, Wushu for my light system, Mutants and Masterminds and Shadowrun for the really heavy systems).

Of course, whats more fun is coming up with creative uses of spells, and just using them. The swan boat isn't game breaking. Turning the statue in the town square to a corpse, casting animate object on it so as to get it to make a really offensive gesture or two, then turning it back to stone is jus...

While the quizzes are fun, Alignment just seems useless. Yes its a decent short hand, but so it a bulleted list. You never have to bring in good points and evil points, you don't have people trying to justify things by their alignment, you don't have to deal with mechanical effects of alignment, etc...
