Re: Small things that you wish people would comprehend...

Just because you can work around problems or issues doesn't mean those problems and issues don't exist and shouldn't be addressed. Maybe it means that in some cases, but it doesn't necessarily. Also people often seem to consider "not that big of a problem" to be the same as "not a pr...

Re: Small things that you wish people would comprehend...

Ah yes, that is a bad persistent habit of mine. It's one of the first things I have to trim whenever I'm doing an initial editing pass of an essay or email. Another similar common error is using "that" when it isn't necessary; most of the time you just don't need it. "Don't you under...

Re: Grumbly Things Go Here

Maybe this could become a hobby that pays. "Can't find that vintage 1964 Ford engine truck part? Let me make one for you!" ;) Based on my machining skills, the turn around time would be an issue for any other engine parts. It might be ok for these. The parts guy said they haven't be...

Re: Random Forum Thoughts.

We have necromancy, and technomancy. I have decided we need regexmancy - magic involving regular expressions. Any programmers out there will understand. How would that manifest? Wouldn't Regexmancy just be, being able to use regular expressions? Or does adding "mancy" imply doing things t...

Re: Grumbly Things Go Here

Working on old vehicles is usually a pain in the ass, but this is getting ridiculous. Parts are unavailable, what is available isn't right, and apparently each of the previous owners of the truck I bought were incompetent hacks. Now I have to start making my own parts. Like turning them on a lathe....

Re: What have you watched recently?

There are several plot threads going on that have almost no connection to each other so I am interested to see how it all comes together. Two of them were finally connected in the last episode I saw and the audience figures it out waaaaayyy before the character does. I'm sure we'll watch the rest o...

Re: What have you watched recently?

Just saw The Matrix in one of those huge ultra HD surround sound theaters. First time I'd ever seen it on the big screen. Still really holds up.... nice. i saw it in the theater on opening day knowing nothing about it, it was pretty amazing at the time. The Matrix was the movie that made DVD player...
