Re: What have you watched recently?

Just got back from Glass . I re-watched Unbreakable and Split this week. This is an interesting trilogy to be sure. And I like it. But I like to think about it more than I like to watch it. I don't want to spoil Glass so I'll probably mull it over for the weekend and then make a new spoiler thread ...

Re: What Video Games are you playing?

How well do you guys think King Arthur: The Role-playing Wargame compares to the Total War series? I've played some of that and a little of Total War: Empire. I never finished King Arthur because I couldn't quite figure out how to play the game effectively once the war against the Welsh started. To...

Re: Anthem

For me, all of these AAA PvE shooters with lite RPG elements and a focus on loot grinding (The Division, Destiny, and now Anthem) all have failed to overcome one hurdle: giving me a reason to play it instead of just sticking to Warframe, which has 10x the depth, 100x the content of all these games c...

Re: What have you watched recently?

Captain America: Civil War. It comes pretty near the top of my ranking of MCU movies for how well it shows that sometimes there isn't a right answer. It's not as air tight as Winter Soldier in terms of structure, but it's a rousing, thrilling battle of brawn and ideologies. You really do sympathize...

Re: Pet Peeves

So...you're asking for the return of true episodic drama? I think there's a place for all types of story telling if done well, but it seems like 90% of the high quality (in terms of technical competency, production value, and public attention) shows are stories that seem to plan on not having an ac...

Re: Pet Peeves

I've complained about this before, but I'm kind of sick of the uber-serious drama art-house TV shows of the past few years having entire LONG seasons full of LONG episodes that are tons of build-up and relatively little payoff. I know this is a product of me watching mostly premium cable shows on Am...

Re: Small things that you wish people would comprehend...

If companies would sell me a plain, unlocked mp4 for digital movie purchases, the amount of money I've spent on movies in the past 10 years would be exponentially larger. Especially if they did the Bandcamp thing where you cna stream OR download an unlockes file for anything you purchase. Lord Foul ...

Re: First World Problems

Couldn't figure out how to get my Kindle books DRM-stripped and converted to epub so I can read them on my nook. The workaround was to put the kindle app on my iPad. The trouble with that is that I much prefer e-ink over whatever glowing tech is in an iPad for reading. get the Calibre free ebook ma...
