Spell: the RPG, a nice PDF game where you cast spells by spelling out words from letters tiles (aka Scrabble tiles.) I liked it so much, I created a web toy, Zero Tiles, to facilitate game play.

Re: Projects

I was charmed by reading Whimsy Machine Games' Spell: the RPG and created my own web toy that coughs up random letter tiles for use in creating keywords for spells. Of course, it can also be used as a basic d6 dice roller and as a random name generator. http://tangent-zero.com/zero_tiles/zero_tiles....

No GM's Sky - Uncharted Worlds

And it's live! You can download NGS-UW from DriveThruRPG now. It's a freebie like all my games on DTRPG. (Feel free to leave something in the tip jar if you want.) https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/272934/No-GMs-Sky--Uncharted-Worlds The Uncharted Worlds version of NGS is more portable than the T...

Since this isn't project or tools related, we'll pretend the new forum thread is also the news forum thread. :-)

Here's an interesting article over on Game Dev...

Re: Projects

Wow! That made a huge difference. NGS_UW finished, converted to PDF, rechecked, and submitted to DTRPG for publication. :-D

Moral of the story, sometimes taking the time to find or build the tools that you need is well worth the investment.

Re: Tools

For the next 20 hours you can get the video, Mastering CSS from Packt to keep. CSS is a very handy thing to know if you want to spruce up your web pages and javascript games. Even if you don't have time to watch, you can snag it now and it will be in your library for later. https://www.packtpub.com/...

Re: Projects

I'm working on a big UW project and need a horde of NPCs. Web toy junkie that I am, I thought it would be easier to write a program to do a lot of the heavy lifting for me. So, here's... http://tangent-zero.com/instantNPC_UW.htm Ya know, I really do love javascript. It's cheap, portable, there are t...

Re: Kid-friendly RPG's?

Just to throw it out there as a shameless plug... The Trouble with Rose is almost all storytelling and counting. Just make a play set where you use pictures and colors instead of phrases for the six attributes. For that matter, you can also snag icons or use Zero Dice straight up as a story maker.
