Re: RP and leaving the party

We are naturally guided by our own experiences. Your group sounds a bit immature in this regard, so it is understandable that you have to adopt a more schoolteacher-like approach with them. Other groups are more concerned with actually playing their characters and making in-character decisions acco...

Re: Episode 515 – introducing the new

My players are pretty good about asking me (after the pitch and before the first session), will Character X fit the pitch? This gives me the opportunity to say no and/or suggest tweaks. Mine do that sometimes and if they do, I'm happy to accommodate them - within reason . Same. Usually if a player ...

Re: Episode 515 – introducing the new

My groups mix it up. We'll come together to work out general concepts, world building, party ideas, etc. Then we go home to finalize the numbers on the sheet. No one wants to sit there while the new player sorts out what feats they want or the optimizer pours through seven different books to find th...

Re: RP and leaving the party

The rules tell you how the PCs are supposed to split their treasure, and states that no PC should ever have more than twice the wealth of the one another. What edition is this? I don't recall this rule. It doesn't sound like 5e. 3.5 Where? Don't doubt you but I don't remember that ever coming up ev...

Re: RP and leaving the party

In my experience if you don't have a rule for loot distribution you get one borderline sociopathic player (not character mind you, but player) constantly taking advantage of everyone else at the table. Maybe, but you game with lunatics. Now I've seen people try it multiple times but all it ever too...

And once again I am forced to ask why are you playing with these people?

Re: Episode 510

I think I get what you're saying, though. If you're too enamored with the characters to ever let things go against them, it's likely going to be a pretty bland story. I've also had it happen where the GM gets too enamored with their version of a character so they inadvertently sabotage the characte...

Re: What's your current game doing?

Two of my three groups are playing again. Well, kind of. My Sunday group is playing 2d20 Mutant Chronicles while I figure out if I can GM with the little one in the house. That's going decently well and while I'm still not sure I'm sold on GMing 2d20, my players are enjoying it. For Fridays it looks...

Re: Do you/does your company use Microsoft office

I keep trying to make heads or tails out of OneNote. I can't get it to work in a way I like.
