Gamer Adventures
by Dan Repperger

In several episodes of the show, I’ve mentioned a travel agent, Kim Maita, who does gamer-themed vacations.  Her most recent endeavor was a LARP cruise, in which a fair number of LARPers took up a block of a cruise ship, turning it into a floating Denny’s (albeit with much better food).  The lack of clear police jurisdiction in international waters allowed this affair to progress until the week concluded, at which point the LARPers were all taken into custody at dock.

Kim had some very clever ideas for pulling this off.  For example, the cruise was over Halloween, so no one would stand out for being in costume.  If you’re interested in more details, the excellent folks over at Pulp Gamer just posted an interview with her that discusses that cruise and other stuff she’s up to.

While it’s not set in stone yet, there’s a very high chance I’ll be going on a different cruise of hers in March.  I’ll be joined by my wife, Karla, the mighty John G, and an undecided fourth guest of John’s selection.  This one will be board-game-focused, so I need to brush up on Catan, but I can leave my fangs at home.  I realize taking a week-long cruise is quite an ordeal, both in time and money, but it’d be great to have some booters join us on that!

That is awesome. I had forgotten about the LARP cruise being mentioned. Great idea!

I didn’t think it was possible to write a blog that is more boring than the show has become, but you’ve done it.

This show used to have pep. It used to be great. Please bring it back to it’s glory days.

As a fellow St. Louisan I want to be able to be proud of this show again.

Ryan:

Describe “pep.” Aside from half of the 80′s hip hop duo known as Salt N Pepa, I’m not sure exactly what you mean. I have avague ideas of pep, but perhasp yours and mine differ. Do we not talk about RPGs anymore? Or with enthusiasm. Irreverant comments? If you’re going to blast us, then blast constructively.

Would this, then, be known as Fear the …Boat?

Sorry, Dan. I instantly thought this when I read the blog.
