Hey Brodeur, thank you for being a good customer service rep. I honestly don’t know how you guys take it, and I can imagine burnout is a huge problem… leaving us understanding customers being lied to just to get us off the phone faster while nothing is actually fixed, or put on eternal hold by some dude in India because we went off his script (Safelink Wireless, I’m looking at you… this is twice now).

But yeah, even when I have been most-wronged by a company and am honestly mad, the first thing I say to the CS rep is, “I’ve got a really bad complaint to make and please forgive me if I get a little frustrated, because I know this is not your fault.” And it’s not their fault. They don’t want to take my call, and I don’t want to be making it. But something’s gone wrong and needs fixed. I’m not sure why so many people don’t realize that politeness and consideration are much better ways to deal with things than throwing a tantrum.
