when you reference Battletech RPG in the show, do you mean the MechWarrior Role playing system?

Yes, that’s correct. I realize they’re technically distinct games, but we’ve found ways of blending them together. We typically use Mechwarrior Second Edition.

can you play the RPG without the board game? will it be any fun? have you tried it?

Thanks, Carmel! I really appreciate that.

As for the RPG, you can definitely play it without the board game. Most people don’t want to, since the most obvious appeal of Battletech is giant robots. But we’ve played many sessions in a row without the ‘Mechs or maps ever coming out. It’s a very rich setting.
