Episode 230 – lying, part 1
by Dan Repperger

* (1:10) Chris asks what we each want from the grocery store, which turns into an illustration on roleplaying styles.

* (5:50) When a game, movie, novel, or TV show is taking a long time to get good, how long do you stick with it before giving up?

* (22:24) Deception at the gaming table.  We setup the topic, offer three categories of lying we’ll cover, and put a few boundaries on the discussion.

* (23:56) Game Masters lying to their players.  The complication caused by the many roles the Game Master fills.  The responsibility players have to not ask certain questions to avoid spoiling their own game experience.  The relationship between social deception done via roleplaying versus die mechanics.

* (45:50) The player lying to the Game Master as the Game Master, as opposed to a PC lying to an NPC simply played by the Game Master.

* (50:09) Last call for the charity auction!  Post your ideas on the blog or forum thread.

* (50:16) Also, a last call for Mikey Mason’s kickstarter project.

Hosts: Chad, Chris, Dan, Johann, Pat, Wayne

I have a customer named Mi Suk Yu at work. Pronounced exactly how you see it. There are ups and downs to working at a dealer for a Korean car make. That was worth a laugh.

Forget “Chad” and “Wayne”, try being named “Ken”

Wayne I get what you say about Wayne’s world but think of having the name Adrian and the effect it had on somones life because of the Rocky series.

…George Wanklin. That’s all I’m saying. Watching him nearly getting arrested by a police because he didn’t have any ID and they thought he was being uncooperative was good fun.

Oh yeah Chad is I complainer without merit he might have had jokes associated with his name for a small amount of time bue he never learned what it was to be associated with a women when you are a man for over 28 years because of the Rocky movies.

You sir and sir owe me an apology or fear the boot movie night because you do not know the suffering I have endured and yet you have two have the bravdo to complain of names shame on you sir and sir how dare you. Wayne can escape from his comic book representation and chad I know not the jokes but I would imagine it was shorter than 28 years. So the glove has been thrown either give me a fear the boot movie night MS3k movie style or admite you are cowards.

I tend to tell my players what NPCs believe. For example: “Scientists have disproven the idea of true AI.”
