Fear the Boot abroad
by Dan Repperger
No, we’re not traveling the world — at least not in person — but Wayne and I were both guests on other shows.
Wayne joined Funnybooks with Aron and Paulie to talk about comic books. I realize Fear the Boot doesn’t talk much about that corner of geekdom, so if you’re interested in hearing what they had to say on the latest in the comic book world, you can find the episode at this here link. I believe their rating is the same as ours, so expect a clean show.
I joined Kicked in the Dicebags for another episode. This one was a round table discussion with me, Bill Coffin (author of Pax Morgana and recovering Palladium writer), Aron Head (Ideology of Madness and Funnybooks), Mark Kinney (All Games Considered), and Apollyon (a cross-show forum user). In case you missed the prior crossover or have a very short memory, I want to remind you that Kicked in the Dicebags is an explicit show! Unlike the previous episode I was on, this one has a very “adult” ice-breaker near the start but then moves into a more intellectual conversation about the predictions of science fiction and other traditionally-geeky topics, without really straying into politics, religion, or general depravity. Just be prepared for some cussing and a really long show if you choose to tune in.

Always good to see you guys doin’, y’know, stuff.
In addition to all the stuff you already do.
Hm.
By the way, abroa sounds like a fun place. Scottish, maybe?! ;)
“abroa”?
What the hell is abroa?
Broa is a type of cornbread. Fear the Boot does not possess cornbread, therefore we are operating abroa (just like we try to keep our conversations apolitical).

In other news, yeah, I’ll fix that typo.
I have to say once again after reading that comments that I love you Dan. :)
I always enjoy being able to hear the hosts a little more “unfiltered” than the standard FtB podcast allows, be that in the form of bonus episodes or guest spots.
My criticisms on this particular episode; Needed more Dan, and less not-Dan.
For those of you that listened to the KitDB round table, I’m thinking we need Bill for a future interview episode. What do you guys think?
I also just realized some of the links in the post didn’t work. Fixed now.
I enjoyed hearing Bill’s take on the various subjects, and I have to confess a morbid fascination with the burning train wreck that is the RIFTS rule set, as well as a genuine fondness for the bizarre-in-a-blender that is the setting.
I’d definitely listen to a Bill Coffin interview episode.
I agree with the idea of having Bill on a future episode. Also, Dan, you seem to have a gift for naming their episodes. Odd, you seem like such a low key guy any other time…
I’d love to hear an interview with Bill. Our episode with him was more of a chat like we’d have with anyone else, so I think it would be interesting. Plus, I’ve come to the opinion that more Bill = success. Funny thing is, initially, I wasn’t thrilled about having him as a guest. Bill is our one and only guest thus far not involved in the gaming podcast community.
My thought, “What do I talk to this guy about?” I was relieved, however, to hear that Bill was already a listener of our show before he guested. He knew exactly what to expect and brought his A game for sure. For those cherished souls that don’t despise us, I suggest checking out “Episode 29: Don’t Break What Ain’t Fixed”.
I also really enjoyed Wayne’s guest spot on Funny Books with Aron & Paulie. Great stuff! Look for both Wayne & Chris Hussy to appear on future episodes.
Trigger: Yeah, Dan’s good at naming eps. He gives me exactly what I’m looking for: a line that can be put as an episode title that incites curiosity and can be taken completely out of context. Also, those statements stand out on an episode because they are unexpected.
