It's interesting to hear about the problems with RPing small talk, because my own background is so heavily based on chat-style RP (as in, using an instant messenger client and dictating character actions and words back and forth that way, via typing... sometimes one player is the pseudo-GM, and sometimes that role is shared). With that kind of RP, soooo much of what goes on is often small talk, or those moments which I guess in a more standard tabletop RP, are the "uhhh awkward, what do I say?" moments.

Great character development happens during random conversations in chat RP, I'd expect that from tabletop RP as well... unfortunately I have only played a very few games of D&D itself. I guess I need to find a group to help inject some of that fervor for just talking about the little things (that quite often are not that little after all), if this "I don't know what my character would talk about" thing is commonplace. Of course, actually speaking the RP words is a different animal from typing them where the words can be edited until satisfactory... but yeah, it's still good practice and quite often the small talk words my chat characters say get little or no editing before they go live.

Sometimes I and whoever I'm playing with will scheme up a plot point to move the story itself on further when the characters have run out of things to talk about... which sounds like almost the exact opposite of what's being discussed in the episode. I'm not saying we never have plot-heavy RP in chat, in fact there are sooo many situations where it's plot-plot-plot-plot with a smattering of downtime/small-talk character building here and there. But yeah, there's quite often a whole lot of little stuff, and then we're like "...these guys need some forward momentum now." Ironically, the character building itself feels like forward momentum, and the heavy dungeon crawl player is perhaps missing out on that aspect of RP.

Chad if you want another bizarre and strangely tasty experience, try fries with blueberry sauce. It shouldn't taste good, but it does.

The bitterness in beer generally comes from hops. Beers that are really malty and don't have a lot of hops would be closer to what you like. You guys might be a bit far south for Leinenkugel's, but they make berry and honey weiss beers.

Heffe weizens are also good for non-bitter beers.

About the beer:
It is one of the better things about living in Czech republic. The best beer in the world for less than you give for cola (cheaper is here only pale water). How cool is that? ;)
