I'm getting really tired of movies with good concepts that fail to use them.
It's an enjoyable action flick but, like way too many of them lately, has no clue how to build tension--in or out of fights. New opponents come from thin air. There's rarely a clue to the story of a fight. "Castle is afraid of you?" Why? Well, because halfway through the film someone thought it'd be a good idea and we're only aware of this when we're told. No foreshadowing, no parallel stories where we see Castle being afraid of Kable. Just some guy telling us this when it's a plot point.

 Re: Gamer
Ok, I know this is been out for a while but I saw it for the first time tonight.
Honestly? I think this is the worst movie of the year. The plot was so disjointed and everything happened too fast. The action was OK I guess, but it was edited horribly and half of the time I didn't even care.
I swear the point of this movie was 'what if the internet was real life?'. The way people talked was clearly supposed to be how jerks on the internet talk, the extremely liberal use of nudity was supposed to be because of how much porn is on the 'net... everything seems to be like 'well this is how the internet would react to this situation.'
And the ending. SPOILERS:
*Kills main baddie* "You! Second in command guy! Set us free!" "I'm sorry, could you repeat that?" "...Set us free?" "Oh, ok. Sure." *Click* *Movie over*
END SPOILERS.
...what?

 Re: Gamer
I saw this on DVD over the weekend. Great story. Great cast. Great acting.
Terrible, terrible movie.
I'd love for someone who knows the film business to tell me what went wrong. Bad director? Bad editing?

 Re: Gamer
The script, bad directing, sloppy editing, failure to know what kind of tone they wanted in various scenes, etc. All reasons it sucked.
