Volvo. We test drove it, we liked it. Even though the one we'd be buying has done more than 200000 miles already, it still feels solid.

'75 Ford F-150 Ranger
(one of, if not, the last year(s) that model was made before splitting into two trucks) My dad and I rebuilt a 302 V-8 to put in it. Great truck. Mine was yellow.


'88 Olds Cutlass Sierra.
Lead sled, but with a V-6 "Rocket" engine that was a favorite of hot-rodders. Wish I still had the engine. The car? Surprisingly, it drove and rode great. Just looked like ass. Mine was white, but not in this good of condition.


'97 Hyundai Tiburon
One of the most fun cars I've ever driven. Topped out pushing 115, handled like a freaking dream. Mine was black. First year they made them.


2000 Jeep Cherokee
This is the one I wrecked coming home from FtC1. Still pissed. My favorite vehicle of any I've owned (un-bike type). I still want to get another one. Wish I could afford to sell my car at what it's worth and get one. Guzzled gas compared to my current car, but it was paid for, cost $14/month to insure, and it was made of pure awesome. Mine was white. Not my favorite color for a vehicle, but it was only 3 grand.


Current vehicle 1998 Honda Accord
Good little car. Great mileage on the highway, not horrible getting around town. It has lots of nice stuff, sunroof, power seat, blah blah. Not nearly as fun to own and drive as my Jeep was. I was going for something economical since I was going to be making payments. It's getting me where I need to go. But I tell you, I want another Cherokee. Mine's "graphite", which means "we can't tell if it's blue, grey, or green".

I agree with you, in fact you might say were in it.

The big Volvo is one of few cars I'd trust with a high mileage like that. Others include pre-90s Mercedes saloons (sedans?), the Vauxhall/Opel/GM Senator (early 90s model), and the big Japanese sedans, Honda Legend and Toyota Lexus LS400.

200k though? Geez, that's high. I hope it's cheap.

We'd be buying from a couple we know that have owned it from new. They've been brutally honest about its faults (like the fuel gauge that doesn't read reliably; but start looking for a station when the trip meter nears 300 and you're good) and they're offering it to us for less than the blue book says dealer trade-in would be for that age of 940.

It already has a 100k honour badge. I don't think it's worth $16 to get it the 200k one it's entitled to, but if I wind up taking it past half a million, it's getting a badge for that.

And I think we can overlook the fact that the heated seats don't heat any more.

Oh, and my inlaws recently traded in an '88 Mercedes with a LOT of miles on it, that was still in perfectly good running condition.

The one and only car I've ever owned is an '89 Chevy Caprice. I've driven it since 1997 and put about 110,000 miles on it. It looks like shit on the outside but is pretty much a tank. I finally replaced the shitty original 305 with a 350. Runs much better now. This thing is so big and heavy that it drives like a waterbed on the highway.



And... as my friend back home says.. you can fit 3 dead bodies or 30 mexicans in the trunk.

I had one of those. By the time I got rid of it the body and suspension were an absolute wreck, but the powertrain was still running smoothly. I liked that car a lot.

1983 Buick Riviera
I had the hard top though, not the convertible. The convertible is a somewhat desirable collectors item since very few were produced, but not the hard top (whew). I traded it in when the engine started burning more than a quart of oil per change. Too bad too, I was poor and in college at the time, and couldn't afford to keep it. I can't help but think how bad ass that car would be if it had a nice (classy) modern set of wheels on it and a new, modern engine in it.

1999 Dodge Stratus.
Pic has nicer wheels than mine, which is an unmodded white SXT. Selling this one now that I'm buying vehicle 4.

2006 Dodge Stratus.
Hanging on to this one as a daily driver for a while since its good on gas and reliable. Gold SXT, just like the pic. Its also almost paid for, which is a plus.

2000 Chevy Tahoe Z71
Needed a larger second vehicle. My folks were getting a new truck anyway so I'm buying their Tahoe. Its just like the one pictured, midnight blue with Z71 package, including cattle pusher. Lots of miles, but only needs to last as long as I'm making payments on the Stratus.

That's a nice car. I've always had a thing about certain of the big American barges, and the Riviera is one of them.

My favourite is the early '70s model though.
