Eastern Promises, starring Viggo Mortenson.

Ooh, I've wanted to see this ever since I heard Viggo interviewed by Terry Gross. How is it?

I really didn't like this movie. I feel what the movie lacked in story and plot it tried to make up for with violence. Frankly, I was bored.

As for me, I've been watching a metric assload of Good Eats, I just can't get enough of that show. Dexter season two is what's current from NetFlix and I'm getting ready to settle into the final episodes of BSG.

Been watching Max Headroom on AOL Video as current television, outside of Food Network's Good Eats and Parking Wars on A&E, is a vast wasteland of meh, IMHO

Post Re: What have you watched recently?
Since finally getting cable about six months back, I've gotten hooked on a few shows:

House
NCIS
Top Chef: New York
Burn Notice
Leverage

I'll occasionally browse CSI (though I find it tough to watch CSI: Miami, which really comes across more as a science-fiction show set maybe fifty years in the future, but only with respect to forensic science and metropolitan architecture) and Law & Order (though this is less a fave than it used to be--too often there seems to be a stretch to get a particular plotline convoluted enough to not be immediately guessed).

I was very surprised to find myself so addicted so quickly to Top Chef, though--there's something that's just a hair more... real about this particular reality show (even though they use all the usual editing tricks to create the narrative they want); maybe it's just that, in the end, the competitions actually make sense for the goal and the prize: "Here's some less-than-ideal conditions--make a great meal."

24...beyond that, I mostly watch the Discovery Channel and the Science Channel. Sometimes I check out the Smithsonian Channel or History Channel for anything interesting that may be on.

All caught up on BSG now. Though now I have to wait and watch the episodes as they come out...

Also got into Big Bang Theory. Very funny show.

Also I still love How I Met Your Mother. NPH rules.

I was blown away by 2010 the first time I saw it. I rented it a few years ago, expecting it to be awful. It may not be as good as the original, but it is definitely on par.

What did you think of it?

Also, I went on to read the next book in the series. 2100? 2060? I can't remember, but it was also very good. Someone should make a movie.
