However, whether or not this particular term has "evolved" depends entirely on how we weigh the opinions of the various people who use it. Somehow, I don't think that the opinions of those who use it in sentences along the lines of "OMG, that class, like, literally catapulted my vocabulary, lol" should carry much weight.

Again I have to say, Really?

I made a silly quip, followed by a joke and then laid out a comprehensive post stating why I thought the use of actually would be better used than literally in that instance and what is chosen from my post to pick at is the silly quip? I also do not appreciate being called insipid and condescending.

3.
actually; without exaggeration or inaccuracy: The city was literally destroyed.
4.
in effect; in substance; very nearly; virtually.

No. 3 is the definition that I, and Mr Memo, was referring to. I was stating that if he did not want his words to be confused, he can use a different word to substitute.

To me, literally, is more in lines with 1 or 2 which does not fit with how Mr. Memo used it.

Post Re: Snow White & the Huntsman
Just saw the film last night. On the whole, I quite enjoyed it, probably a lot more than I was expecting to. Could have used a lot less shaky cam during the fight scenes, but otherwise beautiful.

I may end up being the voice of dissent here, but I found Charlize Theron's performance very jarring. Visually, she was fine, but every time she opened her mouth, she seemed determined to ruin it. Her delivery of most of her lines was quite over the top, and she spent a lot of time bouncing back and forth between whispering her lines too slowly and screeching at the top of her lungs for no reason.

Conversely, I thought that Kristen Stewart actually did a fairly decent job with what the writers gave her (my argument has always been that people tend to call her wooden because they don't realize that the character she's playing in Twilight is a piece of wood, and there's only so much any actor can do with lines like "...").

For me, the dwarves were hands down the best thing about the whole affair. The effects were flawless, and it was only because they were using known actors that I knew there was any CG trickery going on there. Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, and Nick Frost were my favorites.

I just endured this last night--not that it was godawful, I get to do that tomorrow night when I watch D&D Book of Vile Darkness on SyFy--for this is not the movie to watch when one is heavy with turkey and dressing. It's far too slow. That being said, the best part(s) of the movie for me was the fantasy sets. I loved the Dark Forest, Sanctuary, and the two castles. This would have been a great movie shown in IMAX without story, just protracted shots of the scenery and narrative of the lore and ecologies of the flora and fauna.
