Re. the new title, can you get rid of the words "thread" and "discussion" in order to keep them to one line?

Just an FYI for those players unfamiliar with the rules.

The Werefrog chose to raise Karma Ritual one rank because by having it be rank 2, Z'phir can purchase 2 Karma points with every Karma ritual instead of just 1.

Likewise, when it reaches Rank 3, 3 Karma may be purchased per ritual.

Just thought you would like to know that's how that works.

Thanks Werefrog. I haven't used any karma yet and its a thing I'm still not entirely clear on the use of (I get the basics though, and I'm sure I'll pick up the rest as we go). I have two more talents to raise to Rank 2 to qualify for the 2nd Circle, of which one is Karma Ritual, so I intend to do that soon.

I'm trying to decide whether to go for the attribute raise next, or leave that until last.

At some point I'd like to know more about these talent options you were discussing. I haven't taken Avoid Blow yet, and might consider taking a different one instead if it fits better.

Talent options are a different way of choosing Talents.

Each Discipline has its own options. You don't have Avoid Blow as an option as an option. Sorry about that.

We shall have to type up the Talent pools for the wiki sometime for you to see what options you have.

I am torn on Talent Options, because my initial enthusiasm was based on an apparent misunderstanding of what they actually were.

I thought they were a limited pool of extras you add on top to customise your character,

but it seems more like they are mainly the talents you would have got anyway and you are just choosing the order you get them in :|

I'll see if I can come up with an appropriate list of options.

Initially you can only spend karma on Forge Blade or Item History - useful to get a lucky boost to but by comparison Werefrog can spend them on Melee Weapons, Unarmed Combat and Gliding.

Theoetically in a single day Grabthar might have cause to spend 2 or 3 karma, whereas in a big fight Z'Phir could spend all his karma

Ah, thanks, that's helpful.

I think my plan is to push up Surprise Strike when I have enough Legend points (300), now that Ren has finished training me in Second Weapon, then knock up Dexterity by a point (800), and then get Rank 2 in Karma Ritual (200) and Steel Thought (200) to complete the reqs. for Circle 2.

1250 to go! :D

Actually, you still misunderstand the Talent options.

They are not Talents you would have gotten anyway, and it also changes what a Discipline Talent is.

There is a pool of Talents, averaging to 3 per circle, from which you can choose for a non-discipline Talent, and then there are a number of Talents that are Discipline Talents that one cannot choose but simply takes.

This enables the Adept to be more customized.

However, if you want it to be take all Talents from the list of no-options, then choose one from the available discipline pool that isn't a non-optional, that could go, too, especially if we could pick it up at any time, but limited to one extra per circle.

Remember I'm comparing it to 2nd edition Werefrog.

I got all excited about the options and went to type them up. And I found myself thinking "you get that talent anyway"

It felt less like making your own variation on the discipline, and more like chosing between routes to a single destination.

Ah, but you don't 'get that Talent anyway" with options. If you choose to take it, you can get it earlier, if you choose different talents, you don't get it at all.

It does come much closer to versatility than some people like, though.
