Re: HBO's A Game of Thrones
I enjoyed it as well. It was neat to see them give a bit of a human edge to Joffrey. He had some very conflicted emotions in that ep.
And it was nice to see Lancel's balls drop as well.

Every now and again, it's good for the witty wordplay to take a backseat. Agreed. Still Tyrion's line "Those are brave men knocking at your door. Now let's go kill them." Is one of the greatest rallying cry ever. I really liked the Hound in this one as well.

Re: HBO's A Game of Thrones
I really like how Cersei is being done well, showing just how kind of whacky insane she is.
My memory of the events that follow are kind of vague but i think the last episode should be the red wading if it is it will be hard to watch and i have to wounder what the reaction of those will be who did not read the books
Season 3: I really think they should have left Daenerys out of season 2 and just had her stuff happen in 3 instead of the kind of .. short long stints she had.
This is the episode before this one but i feel like Arya`s escape was much more awesome in the book, its one of the few spots ware i was really disappointed with the series.

Re: HBO's A Game of Thrones
I've been re-reading the plot summaries of the books on Wikipedia, as I really didn't remember the finer points of the storyline, and I see that they've already dipped into parts of Book 3 (the freeing of Jaimie Lannister).
The Red Wedding I think will be Season 3's First Big Event. The Episode 9 of S3 might be Joffrey's "incident."
Anyway, as I'm reading the plot summaries, I'm beginning to wonder GRRM has a real plot arc - and I mean this in a good way. It almost sounds like he's just describing what is happening with no real sense of where the end might be (though my own personal feeling is that the story will end with Danearys back on the throne, Tyrion as Hand and Arya as Knight of Kingsguard).
