Post Music Roulette
It's time for music roulette. I'm plugging random songs into Youtube and click what looks interesting in the suggestion bar to the right or what pops up at the end of the video. If I see nothing that is interesting or I hit five songs I'll pass and the next person does their run picking a new seed song for the roulette. When they find nothing of interest or hit five songs they pass. The next person is defined by the 1st person to post their seed video after the last person passes.

Feel free to use the same artist on your run or not. Try to keep it generally SFW and it isn't then mark it as such. If you play the videos at work don't assume you will be listening to the censored version of Fuck You by Celo Green. Also, feel free to comment during someone's roulette run but don't post any videos unless it's your run.

<EDIT>Changed to five songs from ten.</EDIT>
I shall be opening with Interpol's Lights:

Sometimes with music roulette we win, some times we lose.

With this last song we all lost a little something, specificity 4 minutes and 20 seconds. I am sorry.

Time for a pallet cleanser after that one. Went with Jack White. Looks like it might be an American Express sponsored thing. Gary Oldman is directing it.

For the last song in my run I went with another band I've never heard of, Grimes.

Might be interesting, let's give it a try.

NSF - Some dude's ass get's flashed.

That last video is a exactly what happens when dirt hippies get their hands on a drum machine. And people say Bjork is weird.

That's my run for Music Roulette time for someone else to take a spin. Let's see if this thread has any legs.

Going to start with one of my favorite songs (and albums) of the past year or two: The Naked and Famous, "All Of This"

A fun video, and (for those who like their music) they have a lot of their album, if not all of it, up on YouTube.

Well, this went to a boring place. M83, "We Own the Sky". Apparently the video is a "winning" submission to something, from somebody. It appears to be a video full of hipsters trying to be hippies, and then some rectangles. The song is less interesting than that.

Well, now I know never to click anything with "M83" in the title. Moving on...

Okay, this is much better. "Sail" by AWOLNATION. I think.

The little quote in the description is revealing, as are the comments:
Quote:
Shawna: Hey, do you think we could make rain using a hose duct taped to a pole?
Tessa: I don't know. Let's try it.

Apparently this is an unofficial video done by AWOLNATION, and they need to keep making their own videos. It goes from interesting and sexy, to darkly funny. The song is simple but catchy. I approve, and intend to investigate further.

I'm cheating a little here -- I've heard a bit of Empire of the Sun before. Their album art looked pleasantly melodramatic and space-opera-ish, which surely means an interesting video, right? And so we check out "We Are The People" by Empire of the Sun...

The video vaguely reminds me of The Fall (the 2006 movie). Colorful, flamboyant costumes in natural settings. It's actually really striking and engaging. The music ... I'm trying to decide whether I like it or not. I think I do, but I don't think it's something I could listen to on repeat. It definitely reminds me of 80s and 90s light rock in some ways, and that's not a good thing.
