Post Earthdawn: Vultures circle the Flames (OOC)
I'm going to be running an Earthdawn game, and I've even set up the bones of a wiki about it.

I have a few options available for the starting setting, the tone, and the kinds of adventures depending on what the players want.

So, I guess I need to find out what people want to play.

Edit - I'm removing the poll, there was a majority in favor of beginning at Sky Point.

The wiki describes all of those options except Thera.

Actually they all sound fantastic. I'm really having trouble deciding. So far my gut jumped highest at reading Sky Point, but I'll hold on until I find out more about Thera.

 I didn't describe Thera? Thanks for pointing that out. I've been asking for a fresh set of eyes to look over and see what (basics) I missed and it looks like you found a big one.

Okay, I went with Sky Point, because... frikin' airships! :o

But seriously, any of those would work for me.

Sure. Airships.

Of course most of those cities have airships too.

It's a tough call, but I went with Sky Point as well. I also really like Iopos.

As for fresh eyes on the wiki, Sky Point is listed twice.

Interesting, Sky Point is suprisingly popular. So far grabbing all the votes. Does you know what types of characters you'd want to play?

Two of the character types (Disciplines) involve piloting airships. And, despite sounding inherently magical, the ability to fly an airship can be learned as a skill by anyone.

There is nothing to say the group template could not be an airship crew from anywhere in the setting. Whether you were pirates, or traders, or both would be up to you. (and what handy way for me to get the group together  )

Your reaction, Lord Foul, tells me that airships and airship battles should feature prominently. Message received

Well, I've got a Scavian (human) Raider (hasn't earned the right to call himself a sky raider yet) that is chock full of irony. But he's got a (semi) irrational hatred of T'Skrang that would make playing with one a non-starter.

I've made a change to humans. It's quite a big one. They get a recovery test instead of Versatility.

I'm debating how to handle Versatility. The last game I played in the guy who played a Dwarf Thief was furious when he found out what Versatility did and said that there was no point playing non-humans if humans got such a powerful ability.

My two options under consideration: give it to everyone, or give it to noone.

Humans are not the "generic everyman" in Earthdawn, Dwarves are. So there's no game reason to try and funnel a majority of players into playing humans the way there is in Shadowrun.
