The one app to rule them all.
It is the best way to view and edit this forum.
But for me the best are
Where's the Water?: For puzzle game
Narratavius: For stories form board members
Cause of Death: Mystery Visual Novel updated weekly
Air Video: Stream videos from you computer to your phone without having to sync
I also like the Amazon app it lets you scan barcodes and check the amazon website to give you the price before you buy in the store.

On the ipad I like Battlehearts and Call of Cthuhlu since I'm not a big fan of casual games for the most part. Flipboard and Netflix are good too.

Uniwar if you like good turn-based strategy. Galcon if you like quick-n-easy time waste strategy. Words/Chess with Friends if you can tolerate the ads.

If you listen to podcasts, I recommend Downcast. It frees you from ever having to synch to your machine to get podcasts. Way, way better than having to synch even if you're synching wirelessly. It also lets you download large eps over 3G instead of WiFi. Good app. For listening to on-demand shows and casts over the air, get Stitcher. It's good for when you want to listen to something and don't want to mess around with downloading (although Downcast does do streaming, so it might overlap a bit). For listening to "over the air" radio on the go, get TuneIn Radio. Not much explanation required, it's a radio client. Also the Paypal app, look for apps for your bank(s) and credit card(s). Shazam is good for identifying songs. Deal Drop is cool for checking on all of the "one day one deal" shopping sites (woot, etc.).

Goodreader is the best pdf reader I've found. I use it all the time for gaming pdfs, and it handles them well.
IM+ is good if you use any chat systems such as Gmail chat, windows live, etc.
OverDrive lets you check out digital copies of books from your local library.
If you shoot, ShotTimer by Surefire is good for working on shooting exercises.
ActinNature is really good if you hunt or hike. It is a GPS system that uses google earth maps, and allows you to mark sightings. It also lets you see other people using the app in the area.
Runkeeper is very good for tracking running or bike riding. It will record your distance, and speeds including split times for the miles.
MyFitnessPal is good if you are trying to watch your weight. It let's you record what you eat and track your nutrients.
The Skype app is good, because it will let you facetime when not on a wifi network, using your Skype account.
UnNamable is a great name generator for RPGs. It randomly creates names based on US Census data. You select the decade and gender and it spits them out.

As for games: Grab Battle for Wesnoth. It's a lot of fun, and being completely turn based makes it better for very short gaming sessions.

I saw a thread on this and downloaded the vista version. So if I am playing someone else, do I send them my turn, and wait for theirs, and maybe an hour later send my next turn?

Ok, so Hero Academy is the tits. Battle for Wesnoth is neat, but do you have to be in melee to do a ranged attack?
