iOS versions are tricky to distribute. Be interesting to see if anyone does start doing it.
Maybe it would be possible to do an account activation kind of thing, but they would need to vet the apple terms and conditions carefully.

I'm curious what you mean by tricky to distribute. Apple provides the App Store, including update capability. That's much easier distribution than almost any other model.

Nope, not for this purpose. Apple lets you set a price on their store, that is it. You can't give away the equivalent of keys to activate the game on your device. There was once a method where you could use a unique device ID to do this, but that was a) limited to a set number of devices, either 100 or 1000, can't remember which and b) is deprecated. So how are they meant to give people who kickstarted an iOS copy? With android they can provide an apk, but is iOS you have to grab it through the apple app store. This also means that they would need to carefully check that any mechanism they use would pass muster on Apple's terms and conditions too.

This project has exceeded its funding goal. Don Shadowrun would be pleased.

They're at $850,000+ as of today. I doubt any one edition of the TTRPG SR even had that much financial backing.

Re: Shadowrun 2D Turnbased RPG on Kickstarter
Thought I'd plug this topic again in case anyone hadn't seen it yet. They're a little over 12 hours from their time limit, and Kickstarter + Paypal money has exceeded the $1.75 million stretch goal. (Which means we get playable Physical Adepts! Yay!) They're claiming that they have another secret feature in mind for the game if backing exceeds $2 million, but today would have to be quite a day for them to cross that line. All the same, if you want to get in on any of that sweet backer swag, the clock is ticking.

Eyeing that $125 level, but that would be the most I've ever pledged to a Kick starter by a wide margin. They've promised a Linux and Mac version as well.

So, they are releasing the game on July 25th, 2013. Which happens to also be my son's first birthday. It's an omen....
