Post The Legacy Bear Deck
Ok, inspired by the recent discussion over in Pictures, I'm gonna start working on an effective all-green bear deck. Right now, this is just a virtual deck, but who knows? I might actually build it for real if it looks like it'll work.

For starters, four each of:

Four of:

That's 44 cards between mana and creatures, so I have 16 cards left for the deck. Keeping to the deck's theme, I'll throw in four of:

Now, let's see, that second one eats up card draw to use, so we need extra card draw in the deck. Four each of:

And, oh look... it's a deck that is full of 2/2 creatures with no abilities. Well, what if they could all get bigger? Four of:

Maybe not tourney-worthy, but it should be fun in a casual game.

which is exactly the type of mtg game I love. Casual play with decks like this is a blast. My flgs Scarcity Games used to have a casual tourney on Sundays. It was always fun to see what people turned with. My best offering was a dragon reanimator deck.

I too love the trick deck. My favorite deck ever was the "You Are Playing Green... No really" deck. White and green deck that slowly turned your opponent's deck green. Creatures became green creatures. Land became forests. You could even turn a few spells green. And, of course, you were protected against green.

When it worked, it was awesome. It just didn't work... a lot.

I think Striped Bears would be a good combo with Words of Wilding. You'd get two bears for the price of 4G.

Also, because who doesn't want jetpack bears?

For card draw and to protect some from Red:

Ha, nice.

My favorite goofy deck was called Trolls with Sledgehammers. It never worked for me, but when I handed it to a friend of mine he was a god among duelists.

There are some great suggestions emerging here. If it does turn out to be viable, I would love to build this thing. I always wanted a bear deck, but didn't really know how.

If you wanted to actually use "bears", there are quit a few options to make them lolz face your opponent.

Ashcoat Bear - This guy should be considered, flash is an amazing ability that has leaked into the green color pie. With some of the other cards that I will be listing you will quickly see why playing another bear at instant speed will be highly useful.
Spectral Bears - Auto-include if the people at your kitchen table are black players. Great include against those zombies decks.
Werebear - great mana acceleration early game. He's a bit weaker than most of his cousins until you get seven cards into your graveyard, but I like him.
Caller of the Claw - Great creature to include to protect you against board sweepers.

Ok, those are the other "bear" cards that I would like to include in the list.

Now onto some win conditions.

Door of Destinies - It's a little slow, but with a werebear or other mana ramp you can play it easily on turn three. From then on its +1/+1 for each bear that comes out.
Coat of Arms - This card is silly amazing. I would take it out if your opponents are playing tribal decks as well, because it effects all creatures, not just the ones you control.
Epic Proportions - It's a fun combat trick that gets to stay on the creature. I've always liked this card in the casual formats.
Muraganda Petroglyphs As mentioned before with the simple zero ability bears this is amazing.
Overrun - A classic finisher

Utility cards, ones that protect and destroy lands, artifacts, or enchantments.

Asceticism - This card is amazing in slower formats. Giving all your creatures hexproof and the ability to regenerate for 1G is amazing.
Storm Front - A great card to use against your buddies that like to use their dragon or angel deck.

Depending on what kind of enchantment/artifacts are in your MtG group I've selected a few that I really enjoy.

Nature's Claim - It has a draw back, but it's amazingly cheap and at instant speed. Get rid of pesky artifact creatures when they attack, enchants locking the game, or equipment that gives you a problem.
Krosan Grip - The staple get rid of enchantment or artifact spell.
Crushing Vines - A personal favorite of mine in EDH. It has slew many angels and flying creatures, as well as the occasional artifact. Choices are good.
Bramblecrush I would only play this if planeswalkers or certain lands are a problem at your table, otherwise stick to the cheap instant speed spells.

For those of you that are worried about red spells like Pyroclasm, Slagstorm, and sweepers that "Destroy all creatures", but allow regeneration I would suggest

Wrap in Vigor

Being the poor college student I am, I'm thinking of printing out a bunch of magic cards and screwing around just casual games with my wife.
