Re: Red Knave's Fortune Development Thread
For Windle Uriah Cash, the horrors of war never set well with him; he was a survivor, no doubt, but even when one claims a man's last cent, he still has breath and the skin on his back. He joined the war under Sherman initially as it seemed to pay better and kept him in clothes and food as the money drying up on the riverboat tables were increasingly being used to fund the war effort. It's a move that soured quickly as many of those he met in his travels were turning up as rotting corpses. When Sherman called for the razing of Savannah, a city full of folk who didn't have a clear "steak in the game", he finally had his fill. Windle broke away from the garrison and pilfered a month's salary from his unit. Knowing what this would mean, He took his gains and headed west in search of "more equitable game" with the hopes not to be found again.

So far a northern deserter and a southern traitor. Interesting.

Re: Red Knave's Fortune Development Thread
Shane McCree (Whitefield) I would see being the younger out of the trio of knaves (21). Born on part of a affluent tobacco plantation owning family from Georgia. At a young age he became fascinated with music, which was one of the few things that truly engaged Shane. His father had him fight in the war, to help protect the ideals that allowed the Whitefield's to become as wealthy. Shane never forgave his father for having him enlist and took a new last name to sever the ties from his family (McCree), since he wanted to find his own path in the world.
Shane had a knack for just about anything, while his focus was on music during his travels he learned about tracking, Scouting, foraging, and has even picked up some shooting techniques from frank. Shane is an exceptionally fast learner. Though he is still trying to learn Windle's tactics in poker but that will be only a mater of time.
Shane over-compensates for his upbringing but keeping an scruffy appearance. He rarely shaves and keeps his hair longer as well wearing a worn out cap and tattered coat. Frank and Windle do not know Shane's real last name and past. When asked he tells people that he is from a small town near the Rio Grande where he learned how to play the spanish Style of guitar playing.

Re: Red Knave's Fortune Development Thread
Looking good guys.
Once you get those questionnaires filled out we can REALLY get the ball rolling.
Storyteller Gifts:
I'm going to list 3 gifts, and you guys can argue amongst yourselves as to who gets what:
Roderick St. James Elderly English manservant, formerly butler to kings and queens, trained in etiquette, extremely knowledgeable and trained assassin, retired. Roderick suffered a career ending injury which caused extensive brain-damage. All the government secrets that he once knew, almost literally, fell out of his head, ending his career. He was entered into a program by his superiors that were specifically looking for brain-addled subjects. Part of his brain was replaced by a clockwork processor. This removed anything resembling a personality, but allowed him to process information at an incredible rate, allowing him to draw conclusions from many given variables, sometimes giving him the appearance of precognition. This is not the case, but sometimes his predictions are so eerily accurate, it is terrifying.
Wulfe Wulfe is a dog, not a wolf. But he is huge. Roughly the size of a full grown pony, Wulfe is hard to ignore at the best of times. He is also brilliant, for a dog, and loyal to a fault, Wulfe follows only the commands of his master.
Poe Poe is a clockwork raven. He was created by a mad scientist to act as a familiar and a repository of knowledge. He was found in a burnt out old wreck of a building in a storage container. No one was sure how long he'd been there, but it was at least 100 years: He had no knowledge of American independence. He can speak, but has the personality of a bitter, sarcastic, cantankerous old man, but his knowledge of alchemy, science, and mad science is vast, when he is willing to impart it.

Shane found Wulfe as a mongrel pup on a scouting mission, half-starved in the middle of nowhere. Shane shared some of his dinner with the pup and then couldn't get rid of him. The pup became sort of a mascot for Shane's unit and, as he grew larger (and larger and larger) proved a useful watchdog. Often times Shane's unit wouldn't even post a watch in lieu of Wulfe's superior senses. Wulfe never once failed to raise the alarm. Shane ordered Wulfe to stay out of any fighting for fear that the large creature would prove too tempting a target for the enemy forces to resist, but in one pitched battle that went south, Wulfe charged into the crossfire to pull a wounded Shane from the fray.

Frank W. "Sonny" Seiler III, Esq. At your service. Sonny quickly rose to the rank of Captain in the Northern army, thanks largely in part to his knowledge of the South and her troop movements. His assigned unit was almost entirely made up of Southern deserters and defectors, though the North didn't trust him ENTIRELY on his own, and therefore was assigned a lieutenant who acted as something of a political officer for Sonny's men. Sonny was sent west across the Mississippi to cut off the supply lines of a force of Southern soldiers when his scouts ran across a ghost town somewhere west of the Missouri border. This is not uncommon in this area, but Sonny's scouts discovered an alchemy lab in the basement of one of the hosues, and some items in storage. The town hall contained records that the town had been established some 150 years prior. There is no entry as to the reason for its abandonment, but the last town meeting was recorded to be about 100 years ago. In the lab, Sonny's men find some items in storage which Sonny orders removed and inventoried. Within one such box is the metal statue of a raven. Sonny was fiddling with it when he found a compartment in the bird's underside. Opening it, he finds in key (something akin to an allen wrench) and a slot in which the key fit perfectly. Once he had wound the bird it, the creature took life. The clockwork raven, explained that he was created by a "crazy old scientist" in the year 1765. He wasn't certain what happened to the townsfolk, only that the scientist was packing to leave in a hurry. The raven was the last thing packed. Sonny, a fan of the poet Edgar Allan Poe, named the bird after the poet. The bird, a cantankerous, sarcastic creature, has stayed with him ever since "though only the devil knows why" as Poe is wont to say.
