A History of Sea Power, in hardcover, updated. From the library of a USCGR training center in Virginia.

Amazing what you can pick up at your FLGS, really.

Someone here or on another gaming forum pointed me at the The Black Company series by Glen Cook. I am four books in and really enjoying them.

Might've been me, over on the old forums.

I've used them as heavy influence on my World Unchained setting for Savage Worlds.

The Great Game by Peter Hopkirk.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Great-Game-Secret-Service-High/dp/0719564476/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1219607999&sr=1-1

It's a fantasic book going from the start of the 19th century into the early 20th century, really it was the cold war of it's day between the two superpowers of the time in central asia. It's giving me some great inspiration for both some kind of historical game and for Call of Cthulhu games.

It's a solid series. Did you track down The Silver Spike? Best read after Shadow Games, it is sort of the "epilogue of the North" and introduces some new characters, and finishes the story of some of the Black Company that didn't go south, and other old favourites.

Doug.

The Man Who Was Thursday by G.K. Chesterton.

I picked it up because segments of it are everywhere in Deus Ex.

The story is all over the place but there's a keeper-quote every couple of pages so I'm surging forward. It's real short.

The Books of the South. Saw it, had to have it. More flavour for my world!
