 Master's Edition Topic mine
This thread is for you GMs and aspiring GMs to throw ideas at us for what you want discussed on the GM's Edition of KITDB. You see, We're very lazy... er... busy, and find sometimes we're struggling to come up with topics when we record. So, if there is a topic you want our perspective on, or you're an inexperienced GM looking for some tips, this is the place to drop those suggestions.

 Re: Master's Edition Topic mine
How to avoid over-plotting would be a useful topic to cover, I think.

 Re: Master's Edition Topic mine
I can get behind that topic. I was planning on talking about how to prep your campaign when you have no time/more pressing responsibilities, and not over-plotting would be a huge part of that.

 Re: Master's Edition Topic mine
At what point is it better to write your own system than further modify your favorite game to fit your group/personal preferences?

 Re: Master's Edition Topic mine
Can you run a completely character driven game? No overarching plot, just the sandbox and the characters.

 Re: Master's Edition Topic mine
* Reinterpretting newspaper headlines and stories into adventure ideas. E.g. In my town there is a fight going on with one of the local school boards concerning a power struggle over what information can be released to the public. This could be turned into the village fighting over what to tell the populace about the recent attacks/plague/wizard who moved onto the hill outside of town.
* Running adventures made for one system in another.
* I'd go with overplotting as well. I am terrible about this.
* Scaling encounters. This is especially useful in a sandbox game. They didn't choose to explore that neat dungeon you put in front of them when you thought they would and now they are headed there after a bathroom break and they are going to tear your troglodytes and naga apart.
* Running a game for children. I am going to start a Pathfinder Beginners Box game for ages 8-12 at my FLGS after Christmas. I could use advice if anyone has experience in the area. Appropriate themes (not a strong point for your podcast), nonviolent possibilities (bad guys will sometimes die in my campaign, but I'd like to to be much less often than my adult games), role-playing challenges and puzzles that work for kids.
