LIES!!!! We actually hate our listeners and don't feel they deserve to listen to our podcastery. Well that and yeah school. Turns out 4th year university has a lot more work than 3rd. Who'd of thunk it. That being said, We're planning on recording this weekend, so you should see something next weekish, if you're good and eat all your vegetables.

See Jim? This is what happens when you support an inferior D&D system like 4th ed. You don't produce content for podcastery.

Has anyone introduced you to this new game, Pathfinder? It's like D&D, but without all the things that make 4th ed bad, and more of the things that made 3.5 good.

I hate to break it to you bud, but there are very few things that make 3.5 good. Pathfinder is for fanboys who got all butt hurt when they found out WOTC was wising up and abandoning that horrible, still-born mutant of a system that is 3/3.5. 4e is the way of the future baby. Oh and Adam? 4e does keep a guy from podcasting because you get so wrapped up in how much fun you're having playing the game instead of pooring over a legion of books trying to find the latest broken character build or spending a god damned year building a single NPC

If paying a subscription fee for a tabletop game that is so full of holes it gets patched, errata'd, and retconned as often as WoW is the wave of the future, sign me up for the new wave of grognards.

Not to mention, with 4e, they CAN stop you playing your ongoing game when they decide to launch the new edition.

The books still exist. When they switch to a new game, 4E will not be any more dead than any previous iteration of any RPG. I know groups who don't use the online tools; my group was one of them for quite some time. Yes, the online tools are more convenient (character builder, especially) but they aren't necessary to play the game.

 Re: Worst Host???
See what you started Adam? We haven't even had these forums for a week and we already have our first edition war tangent. I love it.
Now, Triggerhappy938, 4e doesn't need to be errata'd and patched any more than any other system does. The first printing of 4e had flaws, yes, as do all RPGs, however with the nature of online tools, it can be refined and erratta'd regularly with minimal problems, so why wouldnt you? 3.5 could have benefitted from being so easily patached. Being able to errata as easily as it does help fight off the power creep one sees far too often in games. So they put out a new class that's more powerful than it should be, or weaker as in the case of the Blackguard, one simple web update and that issue is solved. By moving the game online they've provided a means of cleaning and sorting out the mess that comes from having an option heavy system.
Further, as Pkalata said, there are still erfectly servicable print books for 4e out. Yeah, WOTC could decide that it didn't want to support the online tools anymore, which would be a bummer, but there are already people backing up and making unofficial versions of those tools, and those are unlikely to go away simply because WOTC decides to put out 5e. So, no, WOTC can't force anyone to stop playing 4e any more than they can stop people from playing any other edition of D&D, they can only take away the added convenience they've provided through their online tools.
